So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

They were so overrated a few good songs

Liam was an embarrassment he is a thug (or was) and Noel wrote a few good songs

I saw them twice neither times were particularly memorable

I can imagine their concerts being full of 50 somethings who still like to rave I can’t see them selling our stadiums for many dates

I'm not an Oasis fan (more of an '80s girl myself) but they were very popular back in the day and lots of people bought their music. It remains to be seen if their music will still appeal today and if people will snap up tickets to see them in concert or download their music or whatever. It's not something that will keep me awake at night.

Of course they will….every festival I go to where one of them plays gets a massive crowd for their sets….having them both on one stage for the first time in ages will be such a novelty it will be a complete sell out

HungryLittleCrocodile · 26/08/2024 17:33

@BruceJennersLostOrgan

The music is mostly wank though. Its more of a nostalgia fest for now fat 50 year old men and their tedious teenagers.

Nasty comment. Also do you think women don't like Oasis? What an ignorant, ill-informed comment. Hmm

@MugPlate

So Taylor Swift for dads?

@BruceJennersLostOrgan

No cos Taytay is current. Some miserable England hating fake-Manc Champagne Socialist who was last relevant in 1997 isnt the same.

Didn't like someone bashing Taylor Swift though eh? Wink

Also, TayTay? I have only heard 12 year old girls describe her as this. Cringing for you! 😬

And Oasis are fake Manc? Does that mean TayTay is fake American? Confused

Full disclosure: I love Oasis, and Taylor Swift too. If I didn't like either of them, I would never be so rude as to slate and bash and mock their fans, and make bigoted and sexist remarks though!

The Eagles are miming?! Where did you see this please?

It's been on YouTube for quite a while. You would have to follow the story. It's Don Henley who is mainly the one with his vocals replaced but also the harmonies. Normally the most litigious of bands but on this they went quiet. By they I mean Don Henley who is The Eagles and the manager Irv Azoff. Note there are a number of other acts who do it.

Gosh. Not to derail the thread but Azoff I think owns a stake in Coop Live. Tenuous link back to Manchester there!

I don’t understand the white man thing? What’s wrong with being a white, male musician

JaneIves · 26/08/2024 18:14

I said, maaaybeeeeee......

I'm setting my alarm for 0750 tomorrow.
I'm definitely not fat, I am almost 50, and I'm not male. Oh and yes, I do still go to raves too.

For those not happy about it, do you often piss on others people's chips?
So Oasis may not be your cup of tea (or can of red stripe), but I for one am thrilled at the thought.

If I am lucky enough to secure tickets, I think I will choose a European date, because I don't fancy being covered in piss again, or being hit full pelt by a cheese baguette like I experienced at Knebworth.
Some Oasis fans are obnoxious knobheads, you'll get that everywhere, even at Taylor Swift last week there were plenty of entitled dickheads. They didn't throw piss though, thankfully!

Dunno….you best asking @BruceJennersLostOrgan …..they are the the one who doesn’t like ‘fat 50 year old white men’ ….for whatever reason that maybe 🤷‍♀️

It doesn't remain to be seen! I can guarantee you those tickets will be sold out in less than 5 minutes!

AmusedMaker · 26/08/2024 19:01

How much do you reckon a ticket for Oasis will be? ( if it ever happens of course )

They just said on the BBc news that it's expected to be around £100 for Heaton Park - no idea if that's just a guess or of they've been given official info though.

dapsnotplimsolls · 26/08/2024 19:22

I think 8am will be an official announcement rather than tickets but who knows?

Exactly. Why does colour have to be mentioned by someone, somewhere every frigging day.

To be fair, that would make a brilliant opener to your funeral: we're here to celebrate @JaneIves and who can forget the day she was hit full pelt by a cheese baguette like at Knebworth?

JaneIves · 26/08/2024 20:13

@HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf Ha ha!! I also fell down a muddy ditch leaving Knebworth but the cheese baguette incident remains strong in mine and my friends minds!
Whoever threw it would've made a cracking career at Javelin.

Next year's edition of Glastonbury festival will take place from 25th - 29th June 2025.

It's slap bang in the middle of those dates. Just saying.

£100 a head sounds about right. It was about £50/60 last time I saw them.

10 nights at Heaton Park. 10 nights at Wembley.

Christ, Liam's voice will be potted by the end of that stretch (Bono deliberately has so many nights singing and so many nights off to protect his voice and I know other artists do similar).

It also strikes me as a one off reunion. They will do these dates and whatever European / US dates they've signed up for and that will be it.

I can't see another album nor another tour being likely on the basis of residencies that long.

Anothernamechane · 26/08/2024 20:33

It’s fine not to dislike oasis but lots of people do and are excited and will go to see them. Ultimately Noel will last 6 months before they have another blowout and he decides the money isn’t worth it. I think they’re both skint (compared to how they used to be) and this is obviously a way to generate cash but if people want to pay to see them let them enjoy it. You don’t have to ultimately listen to them or go to any of the gigs.

RedToothBrush · 26/08/2024 20:35

dapsnotplimsolls · 26/08/2024 19:22

They 100% will want to hype it before putting on a lengthy run of shows on sale. They won't want to end up looking stupid.

JasonTindallsTan · 26/08/2024 20:46

The barely disguised snobbery and bitching on this thread is embarrassing. Why do so many people who don’t like something (that’s perfectly normal and mainstream) think it’s ok to be rude and superior and belittling to those who do?

I’m not particularly a swiftie, but I don’t feel the need to look down my nose and sneer at those who are. I hope they all have an ace time at the concerts and swap all of the friendship bracelets that they make and have a thoroughly good time singing their heart out.

Like I will do at Oasis (maybe with slightly less friendship bracelets).
