If you were only allowed one type of biscuit FOREVER … which would you choose?

I haven’t seen a Mumsnet biscuit for a while - remember those? Anyway, they don’t count because they are virtual. And they look like jammy dodgers. Biscuit

And I don’t want any bun (or biscuit) fights about the status of the jaffa. Choose it if you must you heathen.

My vote is for the chocolate digestive. So satisfying. I just ate three with my afternoon coffee. 😋

Malted Milk

The M&S chocolate covered custard creams are gorgeous I grant you, but they are not my forever biscuit. They are a bit too much. The humble chocolate digestive has the balance exactly right.

My mother’s homemade oat shortcake rounds, so crumbly.
She took the recipe to her grave and I’m irrationally miffed at her because I’ve never been able to replicate it.

They were a cross between a melting moment (custard powder?) those rectangular sugar-covered Fox’s shortcake biscuits (margarine in the mix?) and a mealy oatcake. Probably some ground rice and vanilla, too.

Usually I would say Mcvitie's regular milk chocolate digestive biscuits, but they recently released a new seriously chocolatey version, which is a chocolate digestive (as opposed to plain) with dark chocolate chips inside and covered on one side with milk chocolate and I'm really quite addicted to them already!

She probably used cornflour or icing sugar in them. Something like this

LilacCadillac · 25/08/2024 19:36

Lots of people are saying chocolate hobnob without specifying what type of chocolate.
The milk chocolate hobnob is good but the dark chocolate hobnob is on another level of moreishness

blackpear · 25/08/2024 19:37

Lemon shortbread.
