DH disappeared from campsite

My DH went to the shop to get some bits for tea (shop 10 minute drive away) about an hour and a half ago. He isn’t answering his phone. We are on a camp site in the middle of nowhere. How long do I give it before I start stressing? And what do I do? Something about being so far from home is making me panic more than I normally would.

Oh goodness
I'm not sure what to say, is he the type to go for a sneaky pint?

He's found a pub to watch sport!

I wouldn't worry for a bit.

TransformerZ · 24/08/2024 19:50

Gone to meet someone?

Wendysfriend · 24/08/2024 19:51

Probably went to a different shop further away or a pint?

HotSpoonToIt · 24/08/2024 19:51

Yes UK. He’s only gone to a petrol station type shop. I wouldn’t expect him to wander off. DC are asking where he’s got to.

I would also be getting worried at this point. Surely he wouldn't go to the pub knowing you were waiting for the food for tea?

OliviaFlaversham · 24/08/2024 19:51

I understand your worry-it isn’t usual for someone to be gone three times as long as needed. However, sometimes I deliberately dawdle in shops to have a break. Could he be doing that?

HotSpoonToIt · 24/08/2024 19:51

He’s not really the type to go for a pint on his own

Maybe they didn't have what he wanted to buy so has gone elsewhere. It would have to be a bit longer before I panicked to be honest.

wineandsunshine · 24/08/2024 19:52

Flat tyre?

Mostunexpected · 24/08/2024 19:53

If it was my husband he’d have spent an hour and a half driving to 4 different shops to get one specific item. Theres a good chance they didn’t have much in a petrol station type shop

Supermacs · 24/08/2024 19:53

Do you have find my friend or anything like that so you could see where he is? I would be worried too

OliviaFlaversham · 24/08/2024 19:53

Bad signal if you’re in the middle of nowhere?

GoTigers · 24/08/2024 19:53

Where in the UK are you? Remote area? I find campsite owners and general residents in remote areas are very open to helping out in ‘missing’ (apologies for dramatic word) situations. Speak to the campsite owner etc?

HotSpoonToIt · 24/08/2024 19:54

How long would it be until you panicked? I’m in a field in the middle of nowhere with no car and no idea what to do if he doesn’t come back. I know I’m getting anxious now but I don’t know the normal time to give it before I do “something”.

Moier · 24/08/2024 19:54

Hope he's back soon with a funny tale to tell.
Please keep us informed.

BESTAUNTB · 24/08/2024 19:54

I think he’s gone to a supermarket instead, having found a limited choice in the petrol station.

PashaMinaMio · 24/08/2024 19:54

Are you in the uk? It will help to know!!
Is everything ok between you?

Can you go to a camp manager for some support/local knowledge/possible shops & pubs?

He’s probably fine, just having some solo time in a poor signal area.
Keep the faith for a bit longer, then, if he doesn’t show up, call the police.

dollopz · 24/08/2024 19:54

Does he usually pop out for longer when at home? pub? Helping a random local?

Does he have a location thing on this phone?

You could always ring the shop? Or speak to the camp shop owners?

Sidebeforeself · 24/08/2024 19:54

Flat tyre, traffic jam, bumped into someone he knew, car won’t start ..lots of plausible scenarios. He’ll be back soon and you’ll be relieved..or cross!

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 24/08/2024 19:54

That is odd, especially if you were waiting for him to get back with things and not answering his phone. Can you see his phone location on your phone?

Karmaisac4t · 24/08/2024 19:55

Google the nearest supermarket to you, is that journey then a similar time to how long he’s been gone?

Miloandfreddy · 24/08/2024 19:55

If it was my hubby I'd say for sure he's nipped in for a pint somewhere but he'd usually tell me. Can you track his location in anyway?

DreamW3aver · 24/08/2024 19:55

Hopefully he's just gone to a shop further away to get what you need and there's no phone signal

Worrying for you though
