What's the most popular boys' and girls' name in your kid's class/school currently?

Seems like 90% of kids in primary schools in my area are called Olivia and Harry.

The only duplicate name in my DC”s classes is Jack. We are in SW London.

DelphiniumBlue · 21/08/2024 16:20

For girls, there are various forms of Emilie/Amelie/Eva/Ava/Isobel in most classes.
For boys, lots of Noahs/Nathan/Nathaniel/ and quite a few Emils. There's a Henry, Sam, William, Jack and Thomas in most year groups.
North London, posher part.

We have a lot of Ethans, Jaspers and Leos.

Almost all of the girls have E or M names. Eva, Esme, Ellie, Evie, Mia, Mya, Maya, Millie, Maryam

Amelie/Ava for girls
Noah/Thomas/Arlo for boys

TorturedParentsDepartment · 21/08/2024 16:26

We had 6 girls in DD2's year group... Three of them called Holly.

DinnaeFashYersel · 21/08/2024 16:28

Sophie, Jessica, Eilidh, Isla, Grace

Aaron, Brodie, Harris, Alexander, Ruraidh

Are the most popular in my local authority in Scotland.

Gymmum82 · 21/08/2024 16:31

Florence. There are multiple Florence’s in every class

Ohdosodoffdear · 21/08/2024 16:31

All the Evie, Ava, Ada, Amalie, Emilia type names....I know they are not the same name but they sort of blur in to one.

purpleme12 · 21/08/2024 16:35

Maybe Lily
Ayaan

I don't think there are tonnes of the same names though. There's a high percentage of Muslim people as well as white (and others as well) so don't know if that makes a difference

HighlandCow78 · 21/08/2024 16:36

DD had 7 Ellas in her year group! Reuben and Jack were the most popular boys names.

selly90 · 21/08/2024 16:39

In my son's class there are 3 Noah's, 2 Ava's and 2 Isla's.

FranksInvisibleLlama · 21/08/2024 16:46

There isn’t a most popular name in DC’s year. Two classes so about 60 children in the year, none of them have the same name, year 5 in the midlands.

SatinHeart · 21/08/2024 16:47

Isabelle/Isla/Florence/Sophie

Max/Theo/Jack/Noah

TickingAlongNicely · 21/08/2024 16:48

Beth, lily and Isabelle

MyStylish40s · 21/08/2024 16:50

Sophie, Emily, Ava, Eve, Olivia, Millie

Sam, Jack, Max, William, Harry, Theo

Timeisnevertimeatall · 21/08/2024 16:55

Jayden and Kayden - various spellings. Loads of them across the school.
Double barrelled girls names seem popular again for girls names in our new reception cohort - lots of - May, - Rose, -Lily.

MrsSunshine2b · 21/08/2024 16:57

I once taught a class with 3 Lilys and a Lilia. Those kids would be around 16 now though. In my daughter's friendship group there are 2 Aurelias and 2 Veritys, so I think finding a "unique" name is pretty hard nowadays!

Crazycat53 · 21/08/2024 16:59

Multiple children named Lily, Ella, Evie, or something -mai/may , Alfie, Oliver & Hayden. (Rural Norfolk)

Tumbleweed101 · 21/08/2024 17:04

Currently at my nursery popular names are older names such as Elsie, Noah, Henry, George, Lily.

Whitewolf2 · 21/08/2024 17:10

Lots of Harry’s here.

MyStylish40s · 21/08/2024 17:12

I meant to include Alfie, but the ones I know are all babies and toddlers. SO many of them though.

CakeIsNotAvailable · 21/08/2024 17:18

My children are at a state primary school in an affluent part of North West England. There are two Louies in my daughter's year, and two Noahs in my son's year.

When DS was at nursery there were two Sebastians in his year group.

Most year groups seem to have a Penny/Penelope, an Amelia, an Eva or Evie, an Edward, a Thomas, and an Oliver.

Incakewetrust · 21/08/2024 17:19

No Olivias in either of my children's school years. My DH however has 3 colleagues named Olivia and there were 4 at his last place. All early 20's so I think it's a 2000s name

hereismydog · 21/08/2024 17:21

Noah and Ava. Both lovely, but every other child has those names!

FraterculaArctica · 21/08/2024 17:22

Very affluent White British rural area. Oscar, Willow and Ottilie seem to be the trendy names.
