What's the most popular boys' and girls' name in your kid's class/school currently?

Seems like 90% of kids in primary schools in my area are called Olivia and Harry.

DS is 20 months and the only repeated name in the toddler room at nursery is Noah.

Twin DD's are 4 months and no names are repeated but the baby room at nursery has girls with mostly similar sounding names, think along the lines of Ava/Evie etc.

Jayden / Kayden / Brayden etc are popular, for girls Nevaeh and double barrelled names e.g. Lily-Rose, Ava-Grace

I’m a primary teacher and last year I had 6 Muhammeds in my class.

I’m in west yorkshire.

Oh, has Nevaeh arrived here now? I thought it was still an American thing.

I thought it had been here for a while.

I quite like the name

Coffeekitten · 21/08/2024 20:34

There are 4 Harper’s at my sons nursery

TappyGilmore · 21/08/2024 20:37

We live in quite a multicultural area so there tends to be quite a wide range of names. Definitely multiple of Amelia, Emily, Isabelle and its various spellings, Olivia, and Ella though.

Bax765 · 21/08/2024 20:37

Elsie and Alex(ander)

Legoninjago1 · 21/08/2024 20:37

Totally! I suggested that the the really subversive thing to call DD2 would be Sarah 😂

Go back a further couple of decades - Linda, Elaine, Susan, Carol, Sandra... I guarantee there won't be any more of those 😉

cigarettesNalcohol · 21/08/2024 20:39

Isla, Evie, Ella
Leo, Finn, Noah

There's 4 Leos in my dd's year (year 1) and 3 Isabellas. Also popular are A names - Amelia, Amelie, Amara, Amaia, Ada, Ava.. For boys lots of Noahs, Harrys, Jacobs and Joshuas.

In my son’s year group there are two or more of the following:Harry, Henry, Alex, Arthur, Lola, Mia, Ella. In my daughters Hugo, Jacob, Emily, George. It’s a predominantly white and fairly well off village.

AngryBird6122 · 21/08/2024 21:00

by far Amelia/Emilia is the most common, then Eva, Lily, Lilly-Rose, that sort of thing

boys Jack, Harry, Henry etc

Flubadubba · 21/08/2024 21:02

6 Georges in DD's reception class (60 kids).

LoveMaths · 21/08/2024 21:05

lavenderbluesleep · 21/08/2024 21:11

In my daughter's class there are two Mia's, two Willow's and two Violet's.
In my son's there are three Louie's!

SSpratt · 21/08/2024 21:12

There were 4 Olivers in the class when my dd started school. The other popular trend is loads of teenage boys called Ted/Teddy or Theo.

Nina9870 · 21/08/2024 21:14

Girls- Florence and Mia have multiples in class
boys- Charlie and Joseph

Timeturnerplease · 21/08/2024 21:15

Primary teacher, with DDs soon to be in Year 1 and preschool respectively. Affluent South East village. Doing the rounds lately seem to be the following:

Emilia, Amelie, Mathilde, Arabella, Cordelia, Beatrice for girls.

Harry, Henry, Sebastian, Finley, Freddie, William for boys.

Chairmanmeoow · 21/08/2024 21:18

My daughter's class is full of Evie/Ava/Emilia/Amelia - multiples of each I think. Loads of Noahs and Alberts in her school too. My daughter has a "classic" name that was popular in the 80s but has family meaning for us (think Louise) and she's the only one in the school. She does have a pal called Gary though! Maybe they've gravitated together due to their throwback names.

My son is 6yr younger and at baby group there are some really old style names. Morris, Mungo, Gertrude, Murray. My son is called Tom and I've yet to meet another baby one of those!

Ballymolly · 21/08/2024 21:19

Where does Arlo come from and why so popular? That seems quite random.

Edenmum2 · 21/08/2024 21:20

So. Many. Arlo's.
