Does anyone else have a tea towel drawer?

Friend was over for dinner last night and asked for a fresh tea towel.
I said "sure, over there in the tea towel drawer".
She couldn't stop laughing and said she'd never heard of such a thing 😳

Anyone else have a whole drawer dedicated to just tea towels?

(Confession time - I LOVE tea towels 😁)

where else do you put them? i thought everyone had a tea towel drawer?

Vinorosso74 · 08/08/2024 11:01

Yes, we have one. It also had hand towels for the kitchen too.

AddictedToBooks · 08/08/2024 11:01

I did, until it mysteriously started emptying - eventually found lots of destroyed tea towels in my DH's car cleaning kit

TheYoungestSibling · 08/08/2024 11:01

All the tea towels are in a drawer, with other things. Small kitchen so lots of making do and doubling up. Where does your friend keep tea towels?

CatrionaBalfour · 08/08/2024 11:02

I dislike people who scoff at others' organisation.

TonTonMacoute · 08/08/2024 11:02

Yes, obviously 🤷‍♀️

Ellie56 · 08/08/2024 11:05

Ours live in a kitchen drawer with the dishcloths. Where else would they go?

I think you might be me @CharliesAngles as we have a sideboard drawer for the tablecloths.

Your friend sounds weird. Or maybe she was just pissed?

DamnNutella · 08/08/2024 11:06

I have this trolley on wheels and the top shelf has my tea towels and hand towels. I have limited drawer space and way too many gadgets 😂

Does anyone else have a tea towel drawer?
Thighdentitycrisis · 08/08/2024 11:09

No, but only because my kitchen has only 2 drawers!
they live in a basket under the sink

YellowAsteroid · 08/08/2024 11:10

Of course I do. Where else are they going to be stored?

I don't use paper towels (wasteful and ecologically bad) so I have a lot of cotton tea towels used for all sorts of things in the kitchen. Although rarely for drying up - I have a dishwasher.

CatrionaBalfour · 08/08/2024 11:11

Was it your neatness and organisation that your friend was laughing at, or the fact you had tea towels?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 08/08/2024 11:15

Obviously I do.

DelilahBucket · 08/08/2024 11:16

Yes! I sell tea towels so probably have more than the average household 😂

CleftChin · 08/08/2024 11:29

And I agree with ironing them.

Mainly because when they're nice and flat they stack much more neatly and easily in the draw, and compared to DS's school shirts they're quick and easy to iron anyway.

titticaca · 08/08/2024 11:33

Yes, it's right next to the sink. Only have the tea towels in there as nothing else will fit.

I also love a tea towel. Have lots! 😊

ApolloandDaphne · 08/08/2024 11:37

Absolutely. If you don't have one where do you hide your chocolate stash?

upinaballoon · 08/08/2024 11:38

No, I have a tea-towel pile in the airing cupboard. I sometimes think I should ship some out to a charity shop but there aren't many I want to be rid of. There are memories to many of them. There is still an unwrapped one of a picture of a fresco from Pompeii - turquoise basically, with a bird on one of the plants in the garden. Awfully up-market. British Museum, you know.
One's from Northumberland. I think, "Oh, X, (not alive any more) was with me in the gift shop when I bought that one."

CatrionaBalfour · 08/08/2024 11:39

Yes, they need to be ironed, folded neatly and stacked 👍. I have found my tribe.

Longhotsummers · 08/08/2024 11:43

I see your drawers and raise you a tea towel cupboard!! When we redid the kitchen we gained some space to put in a tall cupboard and the bottom half now houses tea towels, spare aprons and fabric napkins, amongst other things!!

FannyFifer · 08/08/2024 10:43

Of course I have a tea towel drawer though it also has cling film, tin foil, baking parchment & a selection of freezer bags.

You see, that's why I have the tea-towels in the airing cupboard, because the drawer is full of all the other things you have listed!
Thinking of baking parchment, I have been meaning to make almond macaroons for at least a week........................

niclw · 08/08/2024 11:44

No but that is due to a lack of space and lack of drawers. In my previous fly I had plenty of drawers and yes I had a tea towel drawer. I'd live one now rather than storing them in a basket.

Peonies12 · 08/08/2024 11:45

Not a dedicated drawer, also has foil, sandwich bags, napkins etc. Where does your friend keep tea towels??

Do you ever USE the fabric napkins? Relation gave me some lovely ones. Difficult to think of slarming a bit of tomato-y sauce from the corner of a mouth with them.

HideTheCroissants · 08/08/2024 11:49

Of course. It also has spare oven gloves and aprons. It would be silly to keep them in the linen cupboard because the cupboard is upstairs!

And like previous posters - it’s the tidiest drawer in the house 😃

CatrionaBalfour · 08/08/2024 11:49

I got some beautiful linen napkins from a charity shop, embroidered in the corners with flowers. Things of beauty. Special occasions only.
