Does anyone else have a tea towel drawer?

Friend was over for dinner last night and asked for a fresh tea towel.
I said "sure, over there in the tea towel drawer".
She couldn't stop laughing and said she'd never heard of such a thing 😳

Anyone else have a whole drawer dedicated to just tea towels?

(Confession time - I LOVE tea towels 😁)

Yes it’s also where I keep a screwdriver and a hammer for some reason. Where else would you keep tea towels?

Waxdrip · 08/08/2024 08:39

No. But I do have a tea towel shelf in one of the cupboards.

CharliesAngles · 08/08/2024 08:39

Thank you all! That's just my point - where else would they live, right?!
I think there are people out there who only have a few and they just hang over the oven door and maybe by the sink.
But I have a lot.
And yes to dishcloths.
But napkins have their own drawer.
And don't get me started on table cloths.
I have a whole sideboard section dedicated to those! 😄

I am not the most domesticated person - but even I have a tea towel drawer.

sashh · 08/08/2024 08:40

Yes, but mine is tea towels and chopping boards.

Summertimer · 08/08/2024 08:40

My parents kept there’s in a drawer and I would do the same if I had enough drawers, instead they are in a basket on a shelf

LuluBlakey1 · 08/08/2024 08:41

Yes, it is where I keep the tea towels- where else would they be kept (along with dishcloths and other 'oddities' like spare chargers).

CocoDolphin · 08/08/2024 08:41

Yes. It has a few other bits and bobs in but it’s 90% tea towels. I love them and am lost when there isn’t one to hand in the kitchen!

BobnLen · 08/08/2024 08:43

Mine are in a storage basket in a cupboard

DancingLions · 08/08/2024 08:44

Yes I do. I fold then roll them so they're not on top of one another.
I have a small basket in one of the cupboards where I have cloths rolled in the same fashion.
I like being able to grab one as I need.

ladygindiva · 08/08/2024 08:44

Yes I have a tea towel drawer. Your friend has issues. Yanbu.

Turnitoffnonagain · 08/08/2024 08:46

Tea towel drawer is next to the what-not drawer. Your friend is obviously drawer deficient and needs help.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 08/08/2024 08:49

I have a drawer, it also has the cloths and sponges in, plus batteries, a tape measure and first aid kit.

My mum keeps hers on a shelf under the sink.

itsgettingweird · 08/08/2024 08:49

I did once. My parents did.

But now they are folded up and piled on the window ledge. I have about 25 of them because - somehow - I manage to use about 5 a day 🤔😂

When they are all washed and folded they wouldn't fit in a drawer. By day 3 because I do a wash they would.

I would be interested to know if anyone else seems to use as many as I do!

Seymour5 · 08/08/2024 08:49

I only have a cutlery drawer in my tiny kitchen, but I have a tea towel drawer in the dining room next to it.

Ginmonkeyagain · 08/08/2024 08:50

I have a drawer with tea towels in it, but not a tea towel drawer. It also houses the tupperware, flasks, reusable cups, the rolling pin and mini blender. It is one of two pan drawers so massive.

Oops duplicate post for some reason!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/08/2024 08:51

Me. Where else can you keep them?

Though I should add that there are several lying on a spare room bed that have been waiting for a few weeks to be ironed (only because they then take up less space in the drawer.)
I will probably transfer them to the sofa bed in another spare room (aka dh’s lair) before I get around to ironing them, and that will be because of a guest needing to use the other bed.
I have too many tea towels!

ASaltyWoman · 08/08/2024 08:52

Yes. My tea towel drawer is proof that I'm an adult, like my mother. Sometimes I reinforce this by hiding a bar of good chocolate at the back of it.

Bobbotgegrinch · 08/08/2024 08:56

We used to have a tea towel drawer in the old house. In the new house they're in an absolutely huge drawer alongside other assorted crap.

TheChosenTwo · 08/08/2024 08:58

My Teatowels and dishcloths are on a shelf under the kitchen sink. They have their own space but not their own drawer but they have to live somewhere!

Bjorkdidit · 08/08/2024 08:58

Ours have to share with the cling film and foil, takeaway menus and those bags you get asking for old clothes.

I wouldn't call it a 'tea towel drawer' I'd probably say 'second drawer down under the hob'.

But I wouldn't find 'a tea towel drawer' funny or unusual Confused

ReadWithScepticism · 08/08/2024 08:58

Not a whole drawer, but a basket within a drawer.
They take advantage of the privacy to breed in there. I swear I have bought far fewer teatowels than I own. And there are strange hybrids and mutations, novelty teatowels from tourist destinations that don't exist. The Beatrix Potter Rat Sanctuary and such like,

Cattery · 08/08/2024 08:59

Yes in a drawer but it’s a wide drawer so has other stuff in it too
