Does anyone else have a tea towel drawer?

Friend was over for dinner last night and asked for a fresh tea towel.
I said "sure, over there in the tea towel drawer".
She couldn't stop laughing and said she'd never heard of such a thing 😳

Anyone else have a whole drawer dedicated to just tea towels?

(Confession time - I LOVE tea towels 😁)

Yep!!

Floralnomad · 08/08/2024 10:13

I have a tea towel drawer but it also houses my downstairs hand towels .

NImumconfused · 08/08/2024 10:15

My mum has always had one but I don't, purely because of a lack of drawers in my kitchen (!), there's only one and it's got the cutlery in it. So tea towels live in the hot press.

Obi73 · 08/08/2024 10:15

Not sure why a tea towel drawer would be funny. Where do they go if not in a drawer?

Seeline · 08/08/2024 10:23

Definitely have a tea towel drawer. It also has my kitchen hand towels in it. It was where I kept the baby bibs too, but that was over 20 years ago. Possibly one or two still in there at the bottom.....
Dish clothes go under the sink with sponges, scourers, spare bin bags etc
Table clothes and napkins in a sideboard drawer in the dining room.
Aprons hang on the back of the kitchen door.

TheresMillionsSaidGeoffrey · 08/08/2024 10:24

Yes, I've seen them lots in other houses too.

dbeuowlxb173939 · 08/08/2024 10:25

Yes! Tea towels and kitchen hand towels in one drawer and cleaning cloths in another

NigelHarmansNewWife · 08/08/2024 10:28

Does your friend use a tea towel for hand drying and as an oven glove too? I'm getting those vibes if there's no tea towel drawer...

Justcallmebebes · 08/08/2024 10:30

Of course although it's a tea towel and cloth drawer. Where else would they be?

WeWillGetThereInTheEnd · 08/08/2024 10:38

Yes, we have one - but then there is more storage space in our kitchen than we need for just two of us. The top halves of the cupboards, beyond my reach are mainly empty anyway!

Izzynohopanda · 08/08/2024 10:39

Yes. More surprised that people don’t have one.

Mine has tea towels, kitchen towels and oven gloves. Also some muslins which are occasionally used for straining homemade yogurt. Kitchen textiles, basically. It's not big enough for the cleaning cloths too, they're in a big plastic box in a utility room cupboard as are the 'dog towels' - we don't have a dog now, alas, but the old towels are very useful for mopping up spills, drying garden chairs after wiping them down etc.

FannyFifer · 08/08/2024 10:43

Of course I have a tea towel drawer though it also has cling film, tin foil, baking parchment & a selection of freezer bags.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 08/08/2024 10:43

I'm jealous I'd love a tea towel drawer. We have a big kitchen but few drawers, mostly deep cupboards so mine live in the tea towel box under the sink.

ssd · 08/08/2024 10:47

Yes but its a bit cramped

I spent a pleasant hour or two organising my tea towel drawer recently-as well as every drawer & cupboard in my house.

Thats my dream scenario

BigDahliaFan · 08/08/2024 10:51

Yes, and for some reason in our new house I'm more pleased with it than I was in our old house. I'm hard on tea towels and probably go through one a day, two or 3 if cooking a lot....

Cleaning cloths have their own drawer here .

KnittedCardi · 08/08/2024 08:34

Of course. Where else would you keep them???

Exactly. Mine share their drawer with dishcloths.

AngelusBell · 08/08/2024 10:54

I have a tea towel basket and a dishcloth basket.

UnimaginableWindBird · 08/08/2024 10:56

I have a cupboard above the washing machine with shelves storing laundry and ironing equipment, shoe polish, laces etc, clean tea towels and cleaning cloths, spare batteries, lightbulbs, and candles and small tools and bike repair stuff.

mbosnz · 08/08/2024 10:57

I have a tea towel cupboard. And yes, I iron my tea towels. I like tea towels. Nice, cotton, patterned, tea towels. I'm apparently a little bit odd in how much I like tea towels.

CleftChin · 08/08/2024 10:57

Mine's a big draw, so it has teatowels, table cloths, napkins and cloths (clean ones.. I do admit that I'd prefer them somewhere else, because it still feels unclean, but I don't have anywhere right now)

SnowFrogJelly · 08/08/2024 10:58

I keep them on a shelf in my tall cupboard..

spiderlight · 08/08/2024 11:00

I do. (I also hide nice chocolate under them because I know teen DS would never think of looking in there).
