I read that two suspects were still on the run and that's why they cancelled...

That was my first thought, that they’ve caught some of a wider group and can’t be certain the others wouldn’t go ahead. Hideous.

Her success makes her a massive threat to men's egos, I think that explains a lot of it🤷🏻‍♀️
We know how brittle they are, the slightest touch and the whole thing shatters.

This comes very close to blaming "men".

You absolutely cannot tar "men" with this crime. Yes the extremists are likely to be men (of course) but so are the fathers of these children that would lay down their lives to protect them and who, without knowing their kids would be at risk have helped to pay hundreds of pounds for them to go have a nice time.

This is awful.

Why are TS's fans being targeted in particular?

Mainly just very young girls who like dancing and singing and dressing up. Why them and not grown adults who are voting for various Governments (not that we should be targeted either obviously).

For maximum and the most devastating impact I would imagine. Sick sick b*stards 💔

Drogdab · 07/08/2024 22:42

Germany, France, Belgium, Austria etc has had terrorist attacks warnings for some time but it’s easy to forget that until you read something like this. But it’s reassuring the intelligence services are working away.

Nikii83 · 07/08/2024 22:43

I attended the June dates for eras in London.

i can see now bags being banned from the venue. There are metal detectors at all entrances. I imagine security will now be extra tight.

TeenLifeMum · 07/08/2024 22:44

I’m so sad that this will just give the current protests more fuel to the fire.

We’re due to see her in a couple of weeks and we’ll all be so sad if it’s cancelled (teen dc will be very upset having had so much cancelled in the pandemic) but their safety is far more important.

billycat321 · 07/08/2024 22:44

Anyone else sick and tired of hearing about Taylor Swift?

Changingplace · 07/08/2024 22:45

AuntieStella · 07/08/2024 22:28

We don’t yet know the motivation. It could simply be that they wanted to hit the worlds biggest tour this year, or because she’s American

BBC reporting that Austrian authorities had said one of those arrested had been radicalised online, and had taken an oath of loyalty to IS

The same motivation as the Ariana Grande attack, against a successful solo female artist and a predominantly young female audience.

sadie93 · 07/08/2024 22:45

We flew in to Vienna this morning for night 1. In total shock right now! So disappointed but obviously so grateful at the same time. Scary, scary world.

siriusblackcat · 07/08/2024 22:45

I'm due at Wembley with my DD, trying to mentally prepare us for it being cancelled.

I'm certain that if it does go ahead they'll ban the Taygating outside, can't have thousands outside too.

Suzyboozy · 07/08/2024 22:46

The question needs to be asked why is it young males that are willing to carry out these atrocious attacks.. 19 years old? Why?

Misscloudycat · 07/08/2024 22:47

Anyone else sick and tired of hearing about Taylor Swift?

Not really.

Even if this had happened to a concert I had no interest in I'd be more than capable of showing empathy to an awful piece of news coming out.

Superhansrantowindsor · 07/08/2024 22:47

safety first but feel so sorry for those missing out.

What a stupid comment

Anyone else sick and tired of hearing about Taylor Swift?

Oh yeah, because it’s all her fault there’s a terror risk 🙄 just don’t read the articles or click on mn threads with her name in the title. Not hard.

Sunhatweather · 07/08/2024 22:49

Well done intelligence services.
Hideous.
F@&king radical fundamentalist religion YET AGAIN.
Please can we hear some very loud condemnation from community leaders of the same faith?

That's awful.

As I said above I do feel the attackers were probably trying to capitalise on all European intelligence eyes being on the Olympics & France at the moment & probably thought they could slip through the cracks... Thank God the plot was foiled..

Such a terrible situation, it must have been a credible threat.

Swfities have been going to such lengths and expense to attend these concerts too, they will all be so bitterly disappointed and hugely out of pocket if they have travelled internationally too.

Such a wholesome innocent pursuit for young girls and women to be targeted, I hope it doesn’t scare attendees at other events and marr their enjoyment.

I took my DC to see Take That in Berlin in June. The ticket prices were not so awful (although they actually were compared to what was delivered in the UK concerts #takethatlite) but yes the extra costs of flights, hotel, food, parking etc. This was our family holiday this year so no expense spared. I did have travel insurance but would not be sure if tickets and concert cancellations are always covered.

Specifically because of this. They’re happy and joyful.

Globules · 07/08/2024 22:50

My good friends daughter is out there. She's equally gutted and happy her safety is being taken seriously.

I'm taking DD and her bestie in 13 days. I am not anxious at all. Like I've just explained to DD, today's cancellation will mean that Wembley will be even safer. It may mean though that we'll need to change outfits to ensure we've got pockets as I can see bags now being completely banned.

Terrorist threats happen all the time. As the public, we rarely hear what goes on behind the scenes. I applaud the police for taking this decision and telling the biggest star on the planet that she can't go ahead. I trust they'll do the same in Wembley too if it's needed.

dreamerz · 07/08/2024 22:50

It's unfortunate timing given all the protests. This could just add more fuel to the arguments.

I'm glad they cancelled it and everyone is safe

I know, it’s so young. And the Southport boy was 17 (not terror related). How is your mind so warped so young or how is it so easily warped. It’s terrifying.

The same motivation as the Ariana Grande attack, against a successful solo female artist and a predominantly young female audience.

The motivation is terror. They hate the west and wish to kill as many westerners as possible

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 07/08/2024 22:53

So awful but l think it was the right thing to do, sadly.
