Am I wrong or are women disproportionately targets of these things? Reminds me of Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester.

SilverliningHunter · 07/08/2024 22:00

@DrunkTinkerbell40s DD and I were just saying the same thing that the terror part of this campaign has been achieved anyway as fans will now be fearful. Such an absolute shame. The police presence is very high at these concerts anyway so hopefully you’ll have some comfort in that.

I hate things like this. I rarely buy tickets to shows, concerts, theatres etc due to a fear of terrorism :( I'm taking my kids to one of her concerts in Wembley and now we're all scared :(

I’m the same. We seen her in Edinburgh. Can’t imagine having that fear now of going to a concert now. But I’m sure there will be extra measures put in place

Sad for those excited to go, but absolutely the right and responsible decision. She hardly ever cancels, I think she only has once before, this won't have been taken lightly at all. I wonder if she will cancel the London shows, especially with all of the unrest here currently.

She should be ecstatic that this was discovered and that she's safe!

She'd be a lot more ecstatic if there had been no threat to be discovered!!

JamSandle · 07/08/2024 22:01

To be honest between all the protests, riots, terror attacks etc I'm sometimes surprised anyone goes anywhere. The world is a dangerous and unpredictable place.

Drogdab · 07/08/2024 22:01

Why them and not grown adults who are voting for various Governments (not that we should be targeted either obviously)

It should be governments or military targets but civilians are easier pickings plus it creates more fear.

Yes, normal every day people are usually the victims.

We’re flying out tomorrow, and while disappointed are grateful that it was caught on time and has been taken so seriously. But after this last week in the UK, the whole thing is quite depressing.

Drogdab · 07/08/2024 22:03

Although it’s incredibly depressing that there’s definitely a focus on young women & girls. Didn’t someone want to bomb a baby unit? how depraved.

Igotjelly · 07/08/2024 22:04

We were at Edinburgh for her show and I have to say the level of bag checking was abysmal, not sure if it was just our venue. You could have smuggled god only knows what in!

Suzyboozy · 07/08/2024 22:05

The arrested was a 19 year old male.
This is very scary especially after the Taylor themed event in Southport.

pinkhousesarebest · 07/08/2024 22:06

pinkspeakers my heart goes out to your dd. What a loss.

Suzyboozy · 07/08/2024 22:06

Like who would the majority of the Taylor concert goers? Young girls, teenage girls & women...

SilverliningHunter · 07/08/2024 22:06

The fans are absolutely allowed to be devastated while understanding why the decision had to be made.

They have planned for over a year for these gigs, gone to extreme lengths to get tickets - balloted for codes/resales/flights my heart goes out to them.

I hope London intelligence and police can reassure her team and the fans that the Wembley gigs will be safe.

I think that kind of thing is very hit and miss, me and DD went to radio 1 big weekend earlier this year and I thought we'd never make it in, the bag check was so thorough, he literally took about 5 min! (I've been to lots of theatres and concerts and sneaked in food where they barely glance in your bag)

SilverliningHunter · 07/08/2024 22:08

@behindthemall I’m so sorry. Are you still going to visit Vienna or will you try to claim on insurance?

We were ok for bag checks at Edin but we arrived later and there wasn’t much of a queue to get in

Why are TS's fans being targeted in particular?

Young girls enjoying life, it’s fucking depressing.

Is it because the fans are young girls?
Or because the terrorists are anti Taylor Swift and what she represents (singing? dancing? fame? huge artist? They did the same to Ariana Grande.

I feel so sorry for the children, for many of them this would have been their first concert. They'd have been so excited and really upset it had to be cancelled.

I tried to get tickets for my young DD and couldn't get them. I can only imagine her disappointment if we were all ready to go and it was cancelled (although obviously this was the right decision).

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is going to hell in a handbasket

Sad

Totally agree 😭

Suzyboozy · 07/08/2024 22:12

It seems certain men hate little girls, teenage girls & women having a strong, female role model like Taylor to look up to. It's horrible. It makes me really sad for the future.

I wouldn't have thought you could claim?

SilverliningHunter · 07/08/2024 22:15

@pinkspeakers Oh. I thought this might be covered.

It’s all of it. The concerts represent fun, freedom, hope, innocence etc
