Update on "riots" tonight from local news sites

Brighton - Less than 10 anti-immigration 'protesters' and about 1,500 counter-protesters with more arriving all the time. Jazz band playing. No violence observed or reported. A couple of buses had to stop for a few minutes to get through the crowd.

Hastings likewise - a handful of anti-immigrationists, and hundreds of counter protesters, chanting "say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here".

I’m not far away from Southampton and the photos and videos I’ve seen show about 4 protesters and hundreds of stand up to racism protesters.

Good to see the counter protests in such numbers.

My concern is that the rioting protesters might just regroup and go on the attack again when things have quietened down and a false sense of security returns.

Nothing materialising in Durham and the surrounding towns as feared. Its all been trolling.

I had an email saying they were shutting the bus station at 6 as a precaution. I saw a pic of a peaceful group (think it was counter protest) but a lot of police around.

I came through earlier on train and I live couple of miles away and not heard any sirens so hopefully peaceful.

2k people in the counter protest in Bristol. No sign of edl protest.

My closest city is Nottingham, there was supposedly going to be something happening but I've not heard anything. I live a few miles away from the city centre.

Yes it’s given out warm weather this weekend too. Wonder if they’ll let it go quiet for a few days and then come back out or if they’ve all given up now.

Just had to walk through there. It was fine - half of West Croydon was out having a chat, the other half was doing their shopping, Plod and City Plod had parked up round the corner just in case somebody said something stupid.

They haven't shown up in Sheffield, there were thousands protecting the immigrations Lawyers site they were going to attack & the surrounding area.

That's your 2 tier policing in play. A freedom of information request should be lodged to find out how many anti jew protesters have been arrested

Both protests seem to have gone off without fireworks - but I'm still stuck with an MP who encourages this way of thinking

Apparently at the Finchley protests the crowd was chanting ‘We are Black, White, Muslim and we’re Jews’ to the tune of ‘She’ll be coming down the mountain’. That’s the spirit!

The thought of hundreds of pissed off Croydonites (all nationalities, getting along just fine) waiting for them and having a bit of a chat down by the assorted mosques would have been more likely to make a night in front of the TV more appealing.

If you are one of the counter protesters that came out tonight- a big fat thank you from someone who sat her kids down and showed them the pictures of you to show them what humanity at its best looks like.

of the 10,000 or so who marched in London, of course there were sections that were anti-semitic , but it was gaslighting by the Tories and the far right to call them 'hate marches'.

The vast majority were there for the wholesale death of innocent women and children, I'm not Muslim and my partner is part Jewish and there were Jewish marchers when I was there. We have a far right goverment in Isreal and its not anti semitism to call them out, just as its not 'anti British' to call out the Tories when they were in power.

I just said elsewhere those pictures of people from all walks of life standing together to say "you don't represent us" to the white racist thugs is such strong imagery.
