Rhod Gilbert, Eddie Izzard, Jimmy Carr and Sarah Millican. I know I’ve seen more but my brain has gone blank.

thesnailandthewhale · 08/07/2024 22:04

Richard Digance
Peter Kay
Jimmy Carr
Bob Monkhouse
Lee Evans
Russell Howard

DeathMetalMum · 08/07/2024 22:08

Russell Howard, Mark Watson x 3, Rich hall, Rhod Gilbert, Tom Allen and Ed Byrne x 2 . Tiff Stevenson was a support at one of the Ed Byrne gigs.

Jealous of those who have seen Billy Connolly. Particularly in the early days.

DeathMetalMum · 08/07/2024 22:10

I need to add Adam Hills on to my list too, I knew I had missed someone.

thesnailandthewhale · 08/07/2024 22:12

Oh, forgot the Mary Whitehouse experience (Baddiel and someone??)

NooNakedJacuzziness · 08/07/2024 22:16

Ricky Gervais
Alan Carr
Rob Bryden
Reginald D Hunter (very dark, not as funny as when he's on Have I Got News for You, quite angry)
But the best was Joan Rivers, she was hilarious

Comefromaway · 08/07/2024 22:19

Jasper Carrott, Victoria Wood, Billy Connolly.

starrypineapplerings · 08/07/2024 22:29

sean lock - brilliant all round
adam hills - big belly laughs and he gave me a hug at the end
ben elton - in his 80's hey day
sarah millican - funny but not quite as much as i'd hoped for from what i'd seen on tv
lee evans - funny and exhausting
dave gorman - witty and clever
alfie moore - love him. check him out
henning wehn - was funny but i don't have strong memories of any belly laughs

would give a kidney to have seen billy connolly

starrypineapplerings · 08/07/2024 22:34

oh how could i forget jason manford 🤦🏻‍♀️ - very funny and relatable
and as a PP said ken dodd as a child. remember very little and don't recall how my parents afforded to take us 3 kids as we were quite hard up

MolkosTeenageAngst · 08/07/2024 22:35

Eddie Izzard. Rhod Gilbert. Bill Bailey. Stuart Lee.

Have seen the Mighty Boosh and Mitchell & Webb live.

Also used to go to the comedy night every month at uni, saw lots of different comedians but Sean Walsh is the only one I can remember who is actually well known now.

CranfordScones · 08/07/2024 22:35

Alan Davies, Matt Lucas, Linda Smith when they were smaller names on the comedy circuit.

Really wish I'd seen Natalie Haynes before she stopped doing stand-up.

EvilHerbivore · 08/07/2024 22:52

Ed Byrnes
Eddie Izzard
Jimmy Carr
Peter Kay
Russell Howard

Would love to see Dara O'Briain

Stl · 08/07/2024 22:53

I go to see comedians a lot. Big names and small names. I can't be arsed listing them all but I've listed some notable ones

🩷🩷🩷Dave Allen - years ago, he was brilliant and memorable
🩷🩷Harry Enfield - brilliant ( a while ago now 😅)
🩷🩷Tom Allen - brilliant, one of my favourites
🩷🩷Micheal Macintyre - very clever, word perfect.
🩷Paul Sinner - love him
🩷🩷Chris Kent - Irish guy who is brilliant. Funny with a fantastic accent
🩷Al Murray - brilliant but a bit one trick pony if you see him too often
🩷Alan Carr - really good
🩷Alex Horne - brilliant ( with his band)
Julian Clarey - funny
Russel Howard - ok
Dawn French - better than expected
Jo Brand - good. (Seeing her next week 😅)
Phil Wang - good but not great
Mark Watson - ok but a bit annoying
👎🏻Isy Suttie - embarrassingly awful. I almost felt sorry for her, luckily a guy fell asleep in the front row so that kept us amused
🩷Robert White - I love him. Better with the right crowd.
Russel Kane - ok but not my favourite

Jenny Eclair - enjoyable. She was funny

Bill Bailey - bit disappointing
Harry Hill - bit disappointing
Henning Wenn - bit disappointing

Gary Delaney - really awful. He was scraping the barrel He read out 'funny' (they really weren't) Amazon reviews for ages. How unoriginal.

Alfie Moore - gentle but funny

Milton Jones wasn't as good as I'd have hoped,
Reginald D Hunter x also not as good as I'd hoped

I go to a lot of comedy evenings and have seen some great people and some who were just awful.

I like smaller venues where the comedians interact with the crowd. I also really enjoy 'work in progress' shows. Our local comedy nights are only £10 or so. It's great value.

I haven't seen James Lancaster. I got ticket but gave them to my son and his gf as they are huge fans. I'll try again when he next tours near us.

Chris Kent is worth looking out for.

Forgot to say I saw Frankie Boyle - I saw him in court though. 😂😂😂 He was extremely clever and articulate but I really dislike him.

Stl · 08/07/2024 22:55

Ohh yeah, Jasper Carrot - about a million years ago. He was very funny

Cattenberg · 08/07/2024 23:05

Reg D. Hunter
Shaparak Khorsandi
Rhys James
Gary Delaney
Lucy Porter
Rhys James
Jess Robinson
Nick Mohammed - deserves to be better known. Jimmy Carr was also in the audience and it was surreal to hear his famous laugh

Cattenberg · 08/07/2024 23:07

I’d love to see Kevin Bridges and Bill Bailey.

WithASpider · 08/07/2024 23:09

Ed Byrne
Jack Dee
Dara O Briain
Nish Kumar
Russell Howard (twice)
Bill Bailey (3 times)
Tim Minchin - does he count?

Seeing Greg Davies next year!

WithASpider · 08/07/2024 23:09

Oh, and Sarah Millican!

daffodilandtulip · 08/07/2024 23:11

Sarah Millican, Russell Howard and Romesh. Romesh was excellent and spoke for ages! Sarah just seemed to want to go home.

FMSucks · 08/07/2024 23:15

Ricky Gervais x2
Billy Connolly x3
Lee Evans
Lenny Henry
Kevin Bridges
Chris Rock
Jim Jefferies
Tommy Tiernan
Dara O’Briain

LunaNorth · 08/07/2024 23:20

Frankie Boyle (awful)
Alan Carr (funny)
Dara O’ Briain (so-so)
Joe Lycett (funny)
Peter Kay (I liked it, I understand why some don’t)
Rich Hall (very funny)
John Cooper Clark (brilliant)

TheGriffle · 08/07/2024 23:21

Harry Hill once
Al Murray as the pub landlord a few times

Peter Kay
Jack Dee
Ricky Gervais
Dara O’Briain
Tom Allen
Rob Beckett
Katherine Ryan
Eddie Izzard
James Acaster
Does The Fast Show performed live count?!
Also, lots at those old fashioned Seaside variety shows: Cannon and Ball, Marti Caine, Tom O’Connor, Ken Dodd, Russ Abbot.
An ex thought it would be funny to see Bernard Manning. It was not.

GellerYeller · 08/07/2024 23:29

Oh how could I forget Joe Lycett, for shame.

OlympicDimples · 08/07/2024 23:52

Gelasring · 08/07/2024 15:45

Harry Hill too, Bill Bailey, Rich Hall, Stewart Lee, mark steel, Mark Thomas, Romesh Ranganathan, Reginald D Hunter (awful), Peter Kay probably loads more I can't think of

Why was Reginald D Hunter awful? I had a dvd of his years ago - but can’t remember what he was like!
