Rhod Gilbert - very funny
The late Sean Lock - unfortunately, not at all funny, but then it later transpired that he had cancer.

Forgot about Eddie Izzard. Years ago. He was really funny. Sean Locke was the best though. Saw him when he wasn't well known, the lots of times and saw his last tour. He never failed to have me crying with laughter.

LemonySnickets · 08/07/2024 16:12

Bill Bailey
Jack Dee (Boring. All his jokes had already been on his tv shows. Loads of people left during the interval)
Al Murray x 2 (very very funny)
French and Saunders (disappointing)
Lee Evans (very very funny)
Billy Connelly (funniest by far....was in pain for 3 days after due to the laughing.)

Too many to list, we've been going to comedy nights in pubs and clubs for years. We've seen lots of unknown comedians who went on to become big, like Jimmy Carr when he used to be funny 😆. Most recently, people you might have heard of - Hayley Ellis, Chris McCausland, Mark Watson, and Gary Delaney - all funny.

Funniest ever were Sean Locke and Phil Nichol.

The next big name we're seeing is Maisie Adam. I'm looking forward to it, she has funny bones.

Chocolatecoveredshitpig · 08/07/2024 16:20

Lily Savage many years ago - absolutely brilliant

afaloren · 08/07/2024 16:23

Eddie Izzard
Ross Noble
Rhod Gilbert
Kevin James Thornton
Vittorio Angelone

And more at various Glee Clubs and open mic nights. I love comedy.

Peter Kay this year. Brilliant.

malakkalakka · 08/07/2024 16:26

All of them, I think. Definitely the ones listed here. It's our industry though. Our wedding reception was like a giant Mock The Week.

It was very hard knowing how unwell Sean was and seeing people online commenting and speculating about him that had no idea.

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/07/2024 16:33

Has nobody seen Ken Dodd? That was a surreal experience! I hated him on TV but his live show was mesmerising.

Dara o’briain several times, Ed Byrne, Miles Jupp,
Michael Macintyre, Stewart Lee, Henning Wehmut, Mary Whitehouse Experience. All good or excellent. Phil Wang - some really unfunny moments.
Excited about seeing Ben Elton this year.

ouch44 · 08/07/2024 16:50

Far too many to mention. Used to go to The Comedy Store in London about 30 years ago. Ben Elton was a regular. Loved him. Saw Lee Evans before he was famous he wasn't funny!

Saw John Bishop straight after lockdown and he was amazing.
Most recently saw Sarah Millican who was ok but feel like she was trying too hard to be rude and it kind of ruined it. Also saw Jenny Eclair and I nearly wet myself laughing! Weirdly I have memories of her coming to my school!

Bbq1 · 08/07/2024 16:50

Russell Howard my sons choice but he was actually really funny.

Milton Jones - absolutely brilliant and so clever. He was just so funny
Dh and I had wanted to see him for ages.
His support act Tom Houghton (The comedian who lives in the tower of London) was great too.
