I don't give those threads my precious time or oxygen. Let them descend into the quicksand of their own echo chamber.

I am at that stage too, just read them with 🍿

I should probably follow your examples @DuncinToffee and @placemats

prettybird · 11/07/2024 21:48

🍿 is indeed good for those threads Grin

Grammar schools aren't an issue in Scotland as we have had any for c50 years Wink

I think in addition to grammar schools, education strategy in England also needs to look at Academy schools (also don't exist in Scotland Wink) as they seem to be creating a grammar school system by the backdoor Hmm

But that's just one of a long list of things that the new government needs to address, so probably not at the top of the list.

CassieMaddox · 11/07/2024 21:49

I'm mostly entertaining myself with thinking (and sometimes saying) "you lost, get over it"
It's far less stressful now I know the grown ups are in charge and unlikely to listen to the nonsense

Zonder · 11/07/2024 21:53

Bizarrely there's a thread in Politics about what did Conservatives get wrong and it has hardly got any responses.

I'm not surprised. Anti-Labour posters seem a lot more prone to getting aerated than anti-Tories. Weird. But see previous comment about adults 😂

Funny that. We don’t really care now they’ve gone, do we?

BestIsWest · 11/07/2024 22:06

It’s been a whole week and I’m still overjoyed.

placemats · 11/07/2024 22:10

Except @BIossomtoes I was listening to Radio 4 at 5pm and the interview with Wes Streeting today. Available to listen to on Sounds and Evan Davies started off by saying now that the first week is over you can't now blame everything on the previous Government. Excuse my French but WTAF? 14 years of incompetence cannot be wiped out after a week.

Of course!

Evenstar · 11/07/2024 23:04

Anyone watching Newsnight? Joe Biden has just called Zelenskyy, President Putin 😮 and apparently it was scripted too.

Igotjelly · 11/07/2024 23:29

Starmer currently speaking in Washington and sounding exceptional. Exactly as I’d hope we would be portrayed to our allies ❤️

Thanks for your Jim Shannon replies @cardibach and @RafaistheKingofClay

Zonder · 11/07/2024 20:30

Some of the anti labour threads are just crazy at the moment. I thought it would all die down after the election but I guess not.

@BIossomtoes and @cardibach are doing a sterling job of bringing in facts and sense.

It's like articles I keep seeing posted on my Apple News feed. Such a bunch of whiny babies babbling bollocks

tobee · 12/07/2024 00:17

Zonder · 11/07/2024 21:35

Oh man I've just spotted the "First Labour f up" thread 😳

When I looked at that it was op 1 post and run thread 🙄

tobee · 12/07/2024 00:20

That old interview of Starmer he sounds very different. Much less nasal.

tobee · 12/07/2024 00:23

Can you tell I'm catching up on the thread? 😝

Bunch of whiny babies babbling bollocks - keeping this phrase in my head will help me keep perspective!

Must say I'm frustrated by the journalists trying to draw Starmer into providing commentary re:Biden. It's cheap.

No PM should comment on the health or otherwise of a leader, particularly of an ally country. It would be inept.

So why ask the dumb questions?

That’s so funny. Particularly when the Tories were still blaming the last Labour government the week before last!

Soukmyfalafel · 12/07/2024 13:57

Those threads are funny (not what is said, but the desperation). They are wounded people trying to prop their disappointment up by being nasty. It's so pathetic it is hilarious.
