I just said exactly the same. This time last week I could hardly breathe waiting for the exit poll.

First BBC QT with a new audience make up.

Ooo

verdantverdure · 11/07/2024 20:16

I relate to the "Oh God. What now?" feeling.

I don't miss that at all.

prettybird · 11/07/2024 20:18

How was QT? Who was on it? I stopped watching it many years ago as I could no longer thole it Sad

First BBC QT with a new audience make up.

Ah I wondered if they would drop that now the Tories don't have a majority!

Last week's was worth watching. It was a debate amongst grown ups, apart from Ben Habib, and I guess he won't be on it again for a long time.

Some of the anti labour threads are just crazy at the moment. I thought it would all die down after the election but I guess not.

@BIossomtoes and @cardibach are doing a sterling job of bringing in facts and sense.

Thank you. It’s not going to die down for a while. There are quite a few very pissed off people around, even more pissed off because the new government is providing them with no fodder so far. They’re not used to a whole week without a wtf moment.

DuncinToffee · 11/07/2024 20:44

QT was very civilised, the appointment of James Timpson was lauded by all.

itsgettingweird · 11/07/2024 21:00

I caught some of QT. It was actually listenable (if that's a word?). People actually answering questions and people asking good questions.

Until one audience member with dancing hands who was just talking and not asking a question. He didn't really ask a question either but the answer (or explanation to his ramblings 😂) was still great

prettybird · 11/07/2024 21:11

The cognitive dissonance of certain posters on the plethora of "casting aspersions on Labour" threads is Shock

They refuse even to acknowledge it when challenged. Hypocrisy, much? Confused

For the record, I have no issue with the UK PM - like the leader of just about every other Western nation for the last 20 years - holding hands with their other half when appropriate in front of a phalanx of press photographers Grin.

And I will happily walk hand in hand (or rather hand through arm as dh has gorilla arms and I have short arms so I can't reach his hand comfortably Blush) with dh, despite - or because of - being married 26 years and together 31 Halo

The one "PDA" I did object to was Trump and May holding hands during her first trip to the USA as PM supposedly to help him walk down a slopeEnvy (<= not envy Wink). It also made me suspect early dementia as my mum likewise couldn't cope with slopes in the early stages of her head injury induced early onset dementia Hmm

Yeah me too. But apparently not. The grammar school thread is hysterical

I'm just getting deleted. It seems posters don't like me saying I find their comments a bit thick.Grin

Must do better, I just feel so lighthearted because they can say whatever they like right now, they can do no harm.

Be careful. Don't want you on the naughty step 🤣

prettybird · 11/07/2024 21:33

I peaked at the grammar school thread Shock.

The attempt to muddle up grammar schools with independent schools and VAT and predict the apocalyptic collapse of the entire education sector was quite pathetic. Confused

BestIsWest · 11/07/2024 21:33

The grammar school thread is ridiculous. Plus an incomprehensible one about the two child benefits cap. I keep typing then deleting.

NoDishiForRishi · 11/07/2024 21:35

I don't get the mindset of people who get all affronted at a married couple holding hands! Shocker they like each other! Or maybe he or she needs that little bit of spousal support, they may have known this was coming but it's still a massive thing to go through.

Zonder · 11/07/2024 21:35

Oh man I've just spotted the "First Labour f up" thread 😳

I don't give those threads my precious time or oxygen. Let them descend into the quicksand of their own echo chamber.

This just got this recommended to me on YouTube!

Young Keir when he was doing the stuff with greenpeace against McDonald's.

Is there going to be a new thread soon?
