DH loves the football and I sit there knitting and grumbling that they should not let the commentators have so many haribo.

DuncinToffee · 11/07/2024 10:18

Last night's result hurt but now I am all in for an England win, let the feel good factor continue.

ITV commentators are the worst though

Mark Chapman on 5live had a heartfelt message for John Hunt

I love Mark Chapman, have listened to him since he did the sports news on Chris Moyles! Wasn't a fan of the ITC coverage at all last night but have loved Gary Neville from afar since Euro 96 Definitely agree about the media coverage of the football here, I'm sure I don't remember it being nearly as frenetic when the women's team was in the Euro finals or the World Cup final.............

He was relying on messages during todays game as no phones allowed for security reasons

Many years ago - well 1991 to be exact - I was a friends wedding. She had done really well as an engineer in the RAF (big up women in STEM !) and got married on an RAF Base near Amesbury. The breakfast was held during a later match, and the airmen serving the top table were ever so discreetly leaning over and saying "Sir might like to know the score is ..."

I had to provide my reg. no and personal details 3 months in advance and wait out of the car for 5 minutes while they mirror-on-a-sticked it.

Her careers advice on leaving in 1994 was "Can't you have some babies. Isn't that what women do ?".

I've absolutely no idea about this but, re Diane Abbott querulous voice, could be a side effect of diabetes medication? There's lots of unexpected side effects from different meds.

Anyone know who it was Lindsey Hoyle was referring to when he was making his speech when being elected? I didn't catch the name, but LH was listing numbers and said "only one name of MP" then a shot of an older male MP, who I think was on Northern Ireland benches. Just wondering story behind it?

😂

Honestly they can't even keep themselves in order for one day

The precedent tells us that parties like Reform generally fall apart fairly soon with no need for outside help.

BIossomtoes · 11/07/2024 13:11

Do we think Reform will still exist by the next election?

DuncinToffee · 11/07/2024 13:19

Very likely but with a another name change

Zia Yusuf has been appointed chair. The racists are very unhappy. This is not what they voted for.

CassieMaddox · 11/07/2024 13:50

Lee Andersin is "chief whip" 🤣

SerendipityJane · 11/07/2024 13:56

Ah, Ben Habib. If you read the Express you'd believe they were the only expert on anything.

Jim Shannon. He was referred to again by (I think) the leader of the DUP in his speech. Must have been a character.

In what sense does Reform belong to the people? It’s a privately owned company… He must know that? Surely?

Jim Shannon. He’s contributed to more debates in the HoC than anyone else by a long long way. If you follow PARLY on Twitter you will get an almost nightly tweet in your feed saying ‘Jim Shannon has intervened in the adjournment debate’.

I was getting a rising sense of panic and fear. Soooooo much more relaxed this week.

He also asks a LOT of PQs. So, so many PQs.

BestIsWest · 11/07/2024 19:44

Really encouraged listening to the Newsagents to hear the focus on standards in government. Much needed!

NoDishiForRishi · 11/07/2024 19:57

I can't believe it's been a week already! This time last week I was on pins waiting for the exit poll. It feels like another world. I haven't uttered the phrase 'oh god what now' in reference to the government for a week. Honestly, I'm only just beginning to relax, I feel like I've been on high alert for 14 years and I can breathe again. I don't think it's being dramatic to say that this country has been traumatised by the actions of the last government.

That’s it exactly. The relief is exquisite.
