Understanding Jay Slater case

Can someone explain what is known about this.
My brief understanding (and I'm possibly wrong) is that he had a scuffle and stole a Rolex outside the party he attended. Then went back to an Airbnb with two British guys he didn't know. Stayed there a couple of hours then attempted to walk back to his accommodation. Had a couple of phone calls with friends that give no particular info. The British guys are not involved (seems odd that he was with them). And JS is still missing or possibly hiding/kidnapped. Who has the Rolex?
It all sounds very convoluted and a clear picture would obviously help people understand.

And yes, everyone deserves not to have their skulls caved in by a machete.

prh47bridge · 06/07/2024 13:18

For clarity, the evidence was that Slater was on the periphery of the attack and was not one of those who inflicted serious injuries on Hilton. He was convicted of violent disorder but, unlike some of the other defendants, was cleared on charges of witness intimidation, supply of class A drugs and street robbery.

Ah, that makes it all better then...
Lovely friends...

Do you understand what human rights are? Are you aged over 14? Because no-one in our society past that age should ever think what you think. No one deserves to be attacked with a machete - no one. It is illegal, it counts as cruel and unusual punishment and not even a High Court Judge could order this to be done to someone. Please go and get an education.

I think you need to get an education, you’re believing everything you’re reading on the internet to be fact. I don’t know if he deserved to be attacked with a machete because I don’t know the full facts surrounding it all. There are a lot of crimes that happen that yes I would have little sympathy if someone attacked them because I see the devastation abuse, rape can have on people.

I don’t need to know the ‘full facts’. What would happen to society if every time someone believed someone else to have committed a crime, they assembled a gang of mates and attacked them with a machete?

IhateJan22 · 06/07/2024 16:02

That’s probably a whole other thread to be honest, the point is no one here knows the facts but seem to judge someone off what they’re reading in the media. The lad deserves to be found so his family can have closure either way.

He committed a crime and he was found guilty, they are the only facts that I’m ‘judging’.

Calm down, we are all entitled to opinions.

It's so bizarre that the strangers he was with the night before he disappeared are "irrelevant to the investigation" (or words to that effect from the police). One of them even said that he offered to give Jay a lift back to his hotel on the morning he missed the bus, but he declined because he was hungry. Isn't that so strange? Where was he buying food at 8am in some remote village and why wouldn't he want to be driven back to his hotel 🤷‍♀️

Do we know for sure the 'remote village' has no cafe/bar type establishments?

AIUI the people he was with have been spoken to by the Police on Tenerife and/or in the UK. Police have decided those people cannot throw any light on what happened.

Blind alley?

GettingStuffed · 08/07/2024 16:31

One alternative is that he's safe and doesn't want to be found.

oakleaffy · 08/07/2024 16:34

The whole case seems very strange with some odd things being said.

( Like “Jay was alive when he left here “)

The whole thing seems highly suspicious-
I Originally thought Jay had simply got lost and succumbed to heat exhaustion/ exposure-

But now I’m not so sure.
The Lucy girl setting up a Go fund me immediately seems very suspicious-

I hope his parents get answers.

I’m starting to think this; very little makes sense from the start. From going off with total strangers to his female friend changing her story to the fact that there’s been absolutely nothing found during the searches. And the sniffer dogs couldn’t find any signs or scent of him.
I do wonder what the bigger picture is….

I don’t know if anyone can live under the radar anymore.

You don’t need to understand what happened. Unless you are his family it’s got nothing to do with you.

You could say that about every post on MN…

This is my guess.

Has anyone seen a video posted by one of the bnb men? Johnny Vegas or whatever he calls himself. It was taken at an earlier date (before he met Jay Slater) and shows him at the same bnb with two teenage boys. They look so young, about 16!
I'm starting to find it a bit creepy that this man in his 30s or 40s was repeatedly taking young boys back to his bnb in the middle of nowhere. I really think there's something suspecious about him.

I find it creepy too. I wonder whether they’ve managed to talk to these boys (and I’m guessing there are more as well)

No one has an appetite after being off their face on drugs the night before. Jay being hungry is stinks to high heavens of bullshit.

He’s been arrested for county lines before. This is what they do, they are predators on young vulnerable teens/young adults. They groom them and they then become indebted to them and wrapped up in selling drugs.

SallyWD · 12/07/2024 12:31

The latest update is that he left the bnb in fear of his safety. A new piece of info has come in to say this. I'd always suspected it. This perfectly explains why he didn't hang around for the bus and decided to walk. It also explains why he would have left the road on the mountain - to avoid detection. It would be much easier to get lost if he left the main road.
Also, assuming he was in fear of his safety because of those two men, who's to say they didn't do something to him? Perhaps they were threatening him and he scarpered - maybe they went after him or maybe they didn't Either way - they're very much related to his disappearance.

Bromptotoo · 12/07/2024 13:18

@SallyWD do we have a source for this information.

Not saying it's wrong just curious.

You've solved the case well done.
