Understanding Jay Slater case

Can someone explain what is known about this.
My brief understanding (and I'm possibly wrong) is that he had a scuffle and stole a Rolex outside the party he attended. Then went back to an Airbnb with two British guys he didn't know. Stayed there a couple of hours then attempted to walk back to his accommodation. Had a couple of phone calls with friends that give no particular info. The British guys are not involved (seems odd that he was with them). And JS is still missing or possibly hiding/kidnapped. Who has the Rolex?
It all sounds very convoluted and a clear picture would obviously help people understand.

He had his funeral on Saturday.
I still think there is more to what was reported.
Why he left the road...
Sad case.

He almost certainly left the road because he was disorientated and thought he could get back to his hotel that way.

But we'll never know for certain.

People high on drugs don’t always make rational decisions.

I get that he was likely to have drugs in his system and probably still be feeling the effects...but I don't think he was "off his head"
The lady that saw him didn't describe him as being this way,he managed to post a coherent snap and send his location.
Personally I don't think he wandered off into the rocky terrain because he was too drugged up to know what he was doing.

Well I suppose ‘personally’ we all have opinions, but we don’t have access to the information that the investigating police had.

Perhaps he just tripped over a loose shoelace. Who knows?

He didn't send his location. His phone knew where he was. He didn't.

The road takes quite a tortuous route. There are footpaths in the area. It is perfectly normal for someone to follow a footpath if they think that will give them a quicker route to where they are going, especially if the roads are narrow so not necessarily safe for walking.

He tried to follow a footpath and got lost. Why should there be any more to it than that?

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 12/08/2024 12:37

I’m amazed people were so caught up in this. Young men are lost to accidents like this all the time. They fall in canals, stagger into the road etc.

It’s sad for those who knew and loved him, but hardly unheard of.

A man who was searching for him, predicted he'd be in the ravine. The route he took was heading towards the sea. The man said it's perfectly understandable that if you were lost on the mountain and saw the sea, you'd head in that direction, hoping for a path down.
Makes sense to make. Looks very rocky there. He nustsbhavevskipped near

Agreed. The road is incredibly narrow and wiggly, and can be absolutely rammed with tourist traffic. He may well have thought he'd be safer and quicker going across country. Unfortunately, said country is rocky and hazardous, with very steep cliffs and ravines. I think unless you've been there, you don't really have an idea of how rough the terrain is. And how hot it can get!
