I learned how easily it was to be swayed by the press at the time of the Jo Yeats murder in Bristol.
Her innocent Landlord had ''trial by media'' and I met someone who knew Christopher Jefferies and she said ''It won't be him''
I said ''Who else could it be, he had a key, and knew her boyfriend was away that weekend?''
When the correct murderer was identified, I apologised to the woman and that case really made me think of how people can be subliminally affected bt what they read or see in the press.
Christopher Jefferies was /is unimpeachable, have since met someone who was taught by him, years ago, and he said '''none of us thought {Christopher Jefferies} could possibly have been guilty of that crime''.
Trial by media is a thing.
It was obvious that a young lad, dehydrated, probably coming down from a drug or two , not wearing decent hiking boots, not dressed or equipped for the serious terrain was far more likely to have fallen than been abducted or murdered.
Hopefully the Post Mortem will show what happened.
