Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

@Riversideandrelax you seem to live in a very specific area with its own microclimate.

No, it’s shit. Cold wind, autumn clothes, can’t put my washing out because it randomly pisses with rain, it’s awful. People have 9 months of the year to huddle under blankets, why they want to do it for 12 is beyond me tbh

Exactly!

This is the weather most of the year so for a couple of months I'd like it to dry, warm and have blue sky.

My asthma is awful in the damp too so feeling completely fed up

Isn’t that a sad life though, spending most of it on the sofa?

Oh I expect she has a hot choccy as well. 🤣

This weather is shit.

feellikeanalien · 11/06/2024 21:36

It's 8 degrees. I've got the fire on and I'm going to run out of coal before the coalman comes again since he's on his summer schedule and only comes every four weeks.

It's miserable.

Jellycats4life · 11/06/2024 21:30

My watch says it’s 11 degrees outside. Indoors my thermostat is reading 17.5 degrees.

I mean that's not great but I'd not be freezing cold at 17.5 degrees.

Yes, we do have a bit of a micro climate here 🌴 I love it!

Really? 17.5 indoors is fecking cold in my house, and if it was acceptable to have the heating on I absolutely would. I am freezing cold. I’m wearing a massive jumper with two thin layers underneath. Guess you must run warm whereas I’m cold blooded or something.

RampantIvy · 11/06/2024 21:41

SomewhereOverTheHill · 11/06/2024 20:36

Because I prefer being cosy and snug under a blanket in my toasty jumper than I do sweating under the blazing sun 😂

But wouldn't you prefer the ambient temperature to be warm enough for you to not need a blanket - warm, not hot?

I think I must. I've not really been able to afford to put the heating on lately so maybe I've got hardy! 😁

I hope it warms up for you!

MavisPennies · 11/06/2024 21:48

I just love the extra light. Don't care about the weather.

LandingXraft · 11/06/2024 21:53

I quite like the cooler weather. I am busy, have quite a lot on my plate, so am glad not to rush around in the heat. It suits my temperament (I’m not a hothead!). My flat gets too hot in the summer. However would welcome some warmer weather in July, August.

SoundedGoodWhenDrunk · 11/06/2024 21:56

It’s hasn’t felt cold here. It’s going to be be between 16-20 degrees over the next week here which is perfect for me. I like being outside but hate being hot.

mumofthemonsters808 · 11/06/2024 22:19

I feel cold but I refuse to put my heating on in June. I’ve dragged my Winter dressing gown back out. This rain is really getting me down. I want to put my sandals on and my dresses and enjoy the things Summer brings (beer gardens, Bbqs .I don’t like it too hot but 75 would be perfect.

LandingXraft · 11/06/2024 22:25

katebushh · 11/06/2024 20:55

I'm enjoying it cos I'm too fat for my summer clothes at the moment.

Agree, I am still not psychologically ready to get into flimsy kind of things ! I haven’t had time to focus on healthier living until now so suits me there too.

Cooper77 · 11/06/2024 22:51

The cool air is bliss, but I do miss the sun. Poor Michael Mosley’s death reminded me how much I loathe and fear the heat.

I think most people on here would be happy with low 20s not 40 degrees. So we are talking about warm rather than hot, and a break from the relentless rain.

Happiestathome · 11/06/2024 23:05

Whilst it’s not ideal for it to be raining in my job, I’m still much happier with the current weather than I would be if it was hotter. If the summer heat never came, I wouldn’t miss it at all.

Noseybookworm · 11/06/2024 23:14

I love it 😀 menopausal and always hot, especially burning hot feet at night! I hate the hot weather, can't sleep and just feel exhausted, sweaty and grumpy!

juldan · 11/06/2024 23:23

No, hate it with passion. I come from a country with proper 4 seasons, and have always struggled enough with 9 months of autumn in the UK. Now it looks like we have moved to 12 months of autumn. There is no respite at all.

At work we hold an important annual event in June with lots of photos put on the company social media so I always check previous years’ phots to make sure I am not wearing the same outfit. No need to check this year. Will be wearing my autumn long sleeve top and a thick cardigan. First time since I started working there 12 years ago.

All my winter clothes are still hanging in the wardrobe as there is no point of getting summer clothes out. I have only managed to wear a few of the tops, which I keep handy for unseasonal warm spells.

I long for hot summer days, with warm evenings when the back door and all the windows stay wide open till bedtime.
I want to go to my favourite outdoor swimming pool on a hot sunny day.

We are going to see Pink on Saturday, planned to wear one of my summer dresses, which would suit the occasion perfectly. Instead, it will be another day in a top, jeans, cardigan and a rain jacket as it is going to be pissing down with rain again.

CharlotteBog · 11/06/2024 23:43

I don't mind that it's not hot, hot, though I do have some summer clothes I'd like to wear.
I do mind the rain. A lot.
The longer days are lovely.
Mid teens temps mean you can just get on with thing w/o thinking too much about being too warm or too cold. I do a lot of sport so when it gets hot, hot it all gets a bit sweaty!

PanicAttax · 11/06/2024 23:45

I was feeling a bit guilty for thinking this earlier actually. I'm not well enough to go out or do much and am secretly happy when it is grey and cloudy as I don't get so much FOMO.

Usually I'd enjoy longer dog walks, cake in the sun, etc.

MyQuaintDog · 11/06/2024 23:57

Totally chucked it down with rain and I had to put the heating on as it was so cold. No I am not loving the weather.

RampantIvy · 12/06/2024 06:48

Currently 8 degrees here Sad

LlynTegid · 12/06/2024 07:04

I can see how at least in the south of England it has been better for children sitting exams. My eyes are not having to witness the horrors of British people not having a clue how to dress with style or dignity in warmer weather.

I still would prefer above 20C and sunny at weekends though.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 12/06/2024 07:07

Absolutely hate it. I have a wardrobe of summer clothes that haven't been worn yet. The shops must be going spare - a few weeks and they'll have their 'summer' sales and be getting the winter stock out.

As for the people 'astonished' and 'baffled' that we have the heating on... if it's cold in winter then the heating goes on. Current temperatures are definitely autumnal so why wouldn't you put the heating on? My thermostat runs by the inside temperature, not the month of the year.
