Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

The longer we can go without hot weather the better IMO!!

I don't need it to be hot we're not talking a need for 30+ degrees but barely scraping above 10 some days is the other end of the scale! I'm sure most people would be content with a median of 20. No one can possibly be enjoying some of the temperatures we've had recently even those who love to snuggle under blankets.

Yep, here's the week ahead in my borough... miserable for June. Usually at this time of year we can eat outdoors, not have to wear socks or slippers all the bloody time, actually get a bit of sun and fresh air on arms and legs...

DS is going on a residential this week and I've just had to buy warmer kit. It's relentless.

2 days of 19 coming up, with a few showers. That's a lovely day. Not too hot, no need to worry about constant sun exposure, garden stays watered without interference. That's perfect summer really.

We'll agree to disagree. It's cold and miserable for London in June. Far too cold, not enough sun, no chance to ever warm up properly or go out without layers.

I shall send my slugs to your garden.

TBH that's how I feel October to April every year.

I feel depressed from about November to March. Hate the cold and the dark.

Just looked at we've sun tomorrow, but then a couple of days of cloud and drizzle, then the weekend looks sunny but with light rain showers and only highs of 20. With luck we should still get a bit of swimming in the sun. The week after looks better.

This is mumsnet. The home of cold, wet, miserable weather lovers. They love to be "cosy" and "snug" under a blanket.

Not at all. I’m very outdoorsy, I just don’t like being hot. We have dogs and it’s rubbish to only be able to take them out early and late when it’s really hot. I also play a sport and run but I hate doing that when it’s hot.

From the sounds of it it's not even slightly warm in many areas!

ThreeDimensional · 11/06/2024 21:19

Yes! Life is so much more tolerable when it's not boiling.

reluctantbrit · 11/06/2024 21:20

I had the woodburner on yesterday evening. Today I gave up and put the heating on at 10am when I realised I wear a winter jumper and a fleece jacket.

I can't put the washing out as I work and can't monitor the rain clouds.

Gardening - no idea, I think it was the odd day recently we managed to mow the lawn.

I don't need 30 degrees, but low twenties and no rain would be nice.

But 13 degrees in June is just miserable. Is it that cold where you are?

Perfect summer? I mean 19 and rain is more like April.

Perfect for me. That would be disappointingly warm for April

A low of 5!! 🥶

Disappointingly warm?! 😂

Yes! It would have me tense and worried we were in for a boiling summer if it was already 19 by April.

Indeed - there is a reason I've always refused to move further north and it's the idea that these are reasonable summer temperatures!

I don't expect glorious sunshine year round or even all summer but consistently getting over 20 degrees without an icy wind doesn't feel too much to ask.

Well, it's not even coming close to warm by the sounds of it. Some people are having cold weather not just nice warm weather. People are saying it's only 10! Not that it's only in the 20s.

I'm astonished people have their heating on. Where are you?

🙄 You’ll probably be “baffled” to know the weather in many parts of the UK is cooler than normal and probably “curious” as to why not everyone likes the cloudy summer weather. Bloody MN buzzwords at their best. I’m surprised that you’re “astonished” that the weather is colder in other parts than where you live. Did your school not teach about climate?

I’ll join the manifesting for lots of hot balmy weather with months of sun 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It was snowing on the hills last week where I am.

RampantIvy · 11/06/2024 21:27

Riversideandrelax · 11/06/2024 21:22

Now you can see why I complain when it's cold Grin

Oh! You wouldn't want to live here then. If it was much below 19 in April I'd be tense and worried that we wouldn't even have a warm summer. Most years my son's April birthday is in the garden.

Funny how we can be so different with weather. I always wondered how people could stand to live up north as it was so cold but I suppose that suits many people!

Jellycats4life · 11/06/2024 21:30

Riversideandrelax · 11/06/2024 21:06

How cold is it?

I have the windows open as I'm too warm!

My watch says it’s 11 degrees outside. Indoors my thermostat is reading 17.5 degrees.

OooohAhhhh · 11/06/2024 21:30

No I'm not, I'm absolutely hating it.
Can't hang washing out ever because of the spontaneous rain.
Why do I feel like I need to put my heating on in frigging JUNE?

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 11/06/2024 21:32

This isn't a nice summer to me 🥶

I couldn't live up north! I just thought northerners grinned and bared it but it seems some people actually like cool summers! Do they like the constant rain too?
