Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

"British people not having a clue how to dress with style or dignity"
😂😂

My thermostat runs by the inside temperature, not the month of the year.

Quite.

My heating is thermostatically controlled. It came on this morning because it is 8 degrees outside. Tonight temperatures are dropping to 4 or 5 degrees.

I would rather a warmer ambient temperature than fester under a blanket.

I bought a load of jumpers last summer because the weather was so awful and am wearing them again this "summer".

ThingsWillOnlyGetBetter · 12/06/2024 07:34

Currently 10 degrees here in East Anglia. And cloudy. And damp. And with a ‘high’ of 15 predicted. In the middle of bastard June.

Flaming June my arse. 😡

Whenwillitgetwarm · 12/06/2024 07:58

The growing obesity crisis means increasing numbers of people struggle in summer temperatures i.e 20C +.

Londonnight · 12/06/2024 07:58

I am hating this weather. This is the first time I can remember the weather really affecting my mood [ reverse of SAD maybe? ]
I have had to have my heating on as my house just gets so cold [ midlands ]. Weather isn't getting much above 12c at best. First thing in the morning temperatures outside are about 5/6 degrees! That is incredibly cold for June.
Forecast for the next two weeks is rain everyday and low temperatures!

According to the weather forecast I saw on TV yesterday, this time last year we were having a heat wave of 25c at least. So yes, it is incredibly cold for June. I really hope the weather improves over the next few weeks.

I like it I have ASD and hot weather brings with it severe sensory issues (sweat, spf, brightness, noise) so im actually feeling much calmer

I actually think one of the reasons we get fat is because the weather is so perennially shit. People get so miserable thanks to the lack of daylight and cold temps, they just stay indoors and comfort eat.

This is mumsnet. The home of cold, wet, miserable weather lovers. They love to be "cosy" and "snug" under a blanket.

I'm not miserable just because I don't like the same weather as you, thanks.

ThingsWillOnlyGetBetter · 12/06/2024 08:07

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain that post means the weather is miserable, not that the miserable weather lovers are miserable…

Jifmicroliquid · 12/06/2024 08:07

No. Our winters are so long, I’d appreciate a little bit of hot weather before it’s winter again!

TheCoolOliveBalonz · 12/06/2024 08:10

We live in a modern house which is very warm - too warm in summer. Secretly I'm loving this weather as I sleep better in the cold. I'm also not having to worry about keeping windows and curtains shut to keep out the heat so less to do.

socks1107 · 12/06/2024 08:15

I am preferring the weather the last two years because 2022 in the south east was unbearable and I just don't want that.
I also work in a hospital that is very tall with glass windows and am yet to experience what that will feel like in the height of summer! I know we have air conditioning but not everywhere and I work all over the site.

That being said mid 20s with some sun would be nice from now till October would certainly lift everyone's mood

blackheartsgirl · 12/06/2024 09:17

I hate the heat too but tbh I am sick of this cold and damp weather, it’s June ffs 😭.

i just want it to at least warm up a bit so i can go out without a jumper and a jacket and I don’t have to have my heating on. Don’t even mind it cloudy

AlpineMuesli · 12/06/2024 09:19

Any farmers on here can weigh in on how the crops are faring without so much sun/warmth?
The rain and floods must have taken a toll.

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2024 09:36

I do feel for the farmers , but I do like this cooler weather myself. I'm dreading any news about heatwaves. That can do one!
Maybe July will be baking instead.

spiderlight · 12/06/2024 09:39

Yes, me! Hot weather makes me feel so ill and migrainey, my dog struggles, my (ginger) son burns - this is so much less stressful than daily fights about suncream and sleepless nights! I would cheerfully live in a perpetual autumn.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/06/2024 09:42

As long as it isn't raining I'm fine with it, although I nearly died of hypothermia on Monday as I was standing around for sports day and the weather did not improve as predicted. The photos show dark skies, children sprinting in coats, and the parents shivering in a cold damp wind.

Still better than last year where we were dropping from the heat.

That was miserable weather, not miserable people.

I think you misread my post.

Katecairn · 13/06/2024 18:05

Very happy with this weather temperature. Wouldn't be upset if it stayed like this until Autumn. Can't cope with the heat. Suspect it will warm up though at some point :(

Doghairdoishare · 13/06/2024 18:06

Secretly enjoying it!

daffodilandtulip · 13/06/2024 18:09

Yes to sleeping. No to the rest of it. I miss summer.

And I think the neighbour noise is worse. It's concentrated in the five minutes sun we have, so you can’t enjoy it as 56 houses have the jet washer out.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 13/06/2024 18:11

Due to so much rain i'm getting sod all time in the garden, no sitting out, no gardening. The house is cold so the heating is back on, towels are staying damp until i put the heating on as the air isn't warm enough to dry them. It's grey and depressing and I'm so bloody sick of it! I'm sick of boots and coats and umbrellas. I miss sitting outside, i miss feeling warm all day 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I'm on constant countdown to holidays and so bloody grateful i have them.

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2024 18:37

Secretly enjoying it!

Me too..

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 13/06/2024 18:39

Yes, I can’t bear the heat, I’m a spring and autumn lover.

BinLolly · 13/06/2024 18:41

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2024 18:37

Me too..

I'm rally not sure what there is to enjoy to be honest? Once again it's been windy, rained most of the day and we had highs of 14 degrees. I genuinely want to understand what part of that is enjoyable in what is essentially the middle of June?
