Sky news says found in the underground cave complex known as the abyss - which would make sense with the fall from height, as in fell into the cave area.

poor poor man, but some solace for his family who at least know where he is now.

That’s what I read.

some posters won't let it go

What do you mean? I feel emotionally invested in the story.

Im also autistic so probably missing some ‘social law’ that I should say nothing but RIP?

QforCucumber · 09/06/2024 09:49

@Wynterbun there were 3 of us who mentioned about them stopping reporting - and yup very much shot down 🤦🏽‍♀️
sadly, when you’ve worked in these situations you tend to realise that when things stop it’s often for a reason

awfully sad for him and his family. What an absolute waste of a life, and I can absolutely imagine my husband doing the same so very relatable situation.

Edited

I don’t think it’s fair to say it was a waste of a life. He did an awful lot with the time he had, albeit being cut short.

deeahgwitch · 09/06/2024 09:50

Deepest sympathies to his heartbroken family and friends.
He was a man who made a difference.
Who helped so many people.

Manhere2024 · 09/06/2024 09:50

As a previous poster says, the Greek news site ERT has blurred out photos showing exactly where his body was found. On rocks by a fence. Visible from the water also. I’d recommend not looking at them but anyway he wasn’t found in a cave or having fallen from height, etc!

he will leave a legacy

That's completely made up. BBC has updated its story to match The Times.

That's my point. There will be so many different comments made and lots will be untrue/ speculation.

fashionqueen0123 · 09/06/2024 09:52

This is awful. I didn’t expect they’d find him alive I suppose but you always have hope. It seems like he took a wrong turn and must have fallen? It wasn’t that long ago me and a friend were watching his show where he would turn up at the supermarket checkout of people he was helping it was such a good show. Can’t believe a holiday for him has ended like this.

DuckEggy · 09/06/2024 09:52

RIP. How incredibly sad for his family. From what a PP posted a few threads up, it sounds the death he would have wanted in that it was hopefully quick. No consolation for those left behind though. I bought the fast 800 treat book last week and had been watch his recent TV series - he brought valuable information to so many in a relatable way.

Hotnamehere · 09/06/2024 09:52

Why has this thread turned into a told you so battle? It sounds like it was tragic accident and his family should be allowed to grieve in peace without all the speculation and posters rushing to be first with any 'news'

bluecomputerscreen · 09/06/2024 09:52

how very sad.
my thoughts are with the family who have been through hell in the last few days.
this is not what you want to deal with, especially not on holiday.

BeetlejuiceBeetlejuiceBeetlejuice · 09/06/2024 09:53

This is so sad. I hope he didn’t suffer. My thoughts are with his family.

That does make sense about the news. My DM mentioned it when I spoke to her last night by text.

That poster is potentially very astute.

I say often on here that you should look for the silences and omissions in reporting or statements as they are often as revealing as what's said.

Given the public interest on the story, you would typically expect every single detail and update on the search whilst that lasted. This would gradually slow to nothing as the next news story took over. But what happened was a report about a new search and then a sudden silence and no new big public interest story.

It really wouldn't at all surprise me if he was found yesterday and there was grace period for the family. The news broke this morning just after 9am UK time - ideal for media reporting too.

We don't know as yet if this is the case, but I do think it was fair comment by that poster. It's an observation of how news reporting follows a pattern.

OpenRoadYeehaw · 09/06/2024 09:54

Very much expected but very much saddened. Was really hoping for a miracle but with no water access and so many days in that heat… 😞

so so sorry for his last moments, I hope it was quick, and for his poor family. The last few days must have been horrific.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 09/06/2024 09:54

The body was found literally next to a fence into a resort so it's not clear that he fell. He might've been trying to find a way in.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 09/06/2024 09:55

Aquarius1234 · 09/06/2024 09:32

Body found and identified.

Awwww, that's absolutely devastating. 😢

Not shocked to hear this though sadly.Sad

The body has definitely been identified as Michael Mosely has it?

If so, R.I.P. Michael Mosely. How sad. 😢

fridaynight1 · 09/06/2024 09:56

He wasn’t in a cave or in the sea. Greek news have posted photos. I won’t be posting a link.

So very sad 😢

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 09/06/2024 09:58

Also the man from the Times on the scene is saying it was found at 10:30 am (local time) this morning.

He was very very close to the marina.

ferntwist · 09/06/2024 09:58

Dr Mosley should get a posthumous knighthood for everything he has done for the health and wellbeing of those in this country. Rest in peace

FiveFoxes · 09/06/2024 09:59

Such sad news. He was a lovely man who helped so many people. He has left an amazing legacy. My heart goes out to his wife and children.

I hope it was quick and painless. Sudden unexpected deaths are so horrible for the family and such a shock. But life has taught me to wish for sudden unexpected deaths for those I love as I would much rather my shock and pain than them suffering. If only he could have had a few more years, but we always wish for that.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/06/2024 10:00

RIP Michael.

But that would involve a major conspiracy amongst the people actually there filming the body being found

Did the mayor and all the UK journalists all decide to take part in some strange conspiracy? Was Twitter also silenced?

For what purpose?

So utterly sorry for him and his poor family. What a gent. Knowing he had his umbrella with him is heartbreakingly poignant.
