There's going to be a lot of rubbish posted. Most of it won't be true.

He's there right now, filming the police as they look at the body (body not shown).

I feel really saddened by this. He seemed such a lovely person who brought so much useful information to us. My thoughts are with his family.

MargeSampson · 09/06/2024 09:41

He was brilliant. I loved his programmes and radio shows. Seemed a lovely guy.

WarriorN · 09/06/2024 09:42

I'm devastated.

Dealing with chronic health issues, menopause and then cancer on top, his programmes made a huge difference when I decided to really get on top of things.

Especially his exercise episodes, green tea, and a recent flax seed one.

They've just confirmed it on radio 4.

He was not found in a cave.

Trying81 · 09/06/2024 09:42

RIP

As sad as it is, I’m glad they’ve found him so the family can have closure. Not finding him would’ve been unbearable for them

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2024 09:43

DM article says the most heartbreaking things:

Dr Mosley first decided to investigate the diet after a blood test revealed he was in the early stages of type 2 diabetes.

'That was a nasty shock,' he said, 'because my overweight dad had developed diabetes in his 50s and died of diabetes-related illnesses at the relatively young age of 74. I didn't want to go down the same path.

'So I set out to find out if there was a drug-free way to 'cure' my diabetes. Periodic fasting sounded so interesting that I persuaded the BBC to let me make a science documentary with myself as the guinea pig. It was called Eat, Fast And Live Longer.'

And

He sometimes talked to journalists with characteristic insouciance about death: 'I would like to die surfing or sky‑diving. I wouldn't mind falling off my bike and going under a bus either, something short and sharp — with apologies to the driver.

'Would I ever kill myself? I would not rule it out. I can imagine things going badly wrong, a catastrophic illness, a stroke, a cancer. I would not want to be a burden but it would utterly depend on Clare. It's a decision I would take with her.'

It's been likely this would be the outcome but the Mail have spent time researching this his life for when the news did come and it's so ironic. It's almost as if you can't escape your fate in a 'final destination' kind of manner.

He was 67.

Sky news says found in the underground cave complex known as the abyss - which would make sense with the fall from height, as in fell into the cave area.

poor poor man, but some solace for his family who at least know where he is now.

thebillcollector · 09/06/2024 09:43

😞Poor Michael

Seriously, show some respect. I cannot believe that even though the poor man has been found dead some posters won't let it go. Take a long hard look at yourselves.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 09/06/2024 09:45

Poor man, I’m so sorry to hear about this. It was a tragic accident though and seems like it was quick. 😢 May he rest in peace.

Wynterbun · 09/06/2024 09:45

The body was almost certain found yesterday which is why many news sources stopped updating their articles. DM then put up an exclusive headliner story saying they were searching the Abyss cave systems that stayed in place until this morning. It seemed like a very odd thing to run as "exclusive" because it's simply a fact and not an exclusive interview or footage. At the time they already know a body was found in there so obviously the next breaking news this morning was confirming the fact. So the poster on MN who noticed a lot of news outlets slowing down their reporting wasn't wrong, and she was slated for it.

Very sad and RIP.

Such very sad news may he rest in peace.

That does make sense about the news. My DM mentioned it when I spoke to her last night by text.

MattDamon · 09/06/2024 09:47

BBC has updated:

The body - which has yet to be formally identified - was found at a small cliff on a rocky hill north-east of the village of Pedi, near Agia Marina beach.

A police source told BBC News the deceased had been dead "for a number of days".

And the post below this spoke about a long drop to the cave where he was found. So not quite just next to where people were. So many different angles will be posted.

Willmafrockfit · 09/06/2024 09:48

ironic he wrote a piece for the guardian in 2016 saying no male in his family lived longer than 72. and now includes him. Sad

Not according to the sky news reporter on the scene, unless I've totally misunderstood her it all happened this morning

QforCucumber · 09/06/2024 09:49

@Wynterbun there were 3 of us who mentioned about them stopping reporting - and yup very much shot down 🤦🏽‍♀️
sadly, when you’ve worked in these situations you tend to realise that when things stop it’s often for a reason

awfully sad for him and his family. What an absolute waste of a life, and I can absolutely imagine my husband doing the same so very relatable situation.

That's completely made up. BBC has updated its story to match The Times.

OnehundredStars · 09/06/2024 09:49

So sorry to hear this. What a gentleman and so talented. Thoughts and prayers with his loving family.

Chilliandrice · 09/06/2024 09:50

Very very sad news.

The bbc does not say he was found in a cave. Reports are still sketchy.

coffeandteav · 09/06/2024 09:50

Why is sky saying the deputy major says found in a cave? Then a source says on a rocky coast by a private boat?

Poor Michael. He was my favourite celebrity.
