Body found and identified.

It’s so easy to underestimate weather conditions, especially in conditions you’re not used to. I was in Banff, Canada during a cold snap in February this year and I lost feeling in several toes. A local I was with was pretty worried and helped me get circulation back in my feet but being Australian I wasn’t aware of what frost bite symptoms to look out for.

It’s very sad news he will be missed

he just seemed like a lovely guy and his shows were easy to watch and informative

I've just looked at the greek blurred pictures. On one he's behind a fence and the next he's behind a wall.

May he rest in peace, thoughts for his family and friends as they mourn. I hope in time they can remember his legacy and be proud of what he did.

What is wrong with people. Arguing there was some sort of weird conspiracy and embargo. Have some respect. It was highly unlikely that was the case, but even if it was it’s irrelevant.

Which makes sense when you see the lie of the land. The wall is closer to the sea than the fence.

David Brown on Twitter is posting videos of the area.

Yeah at least one of those most be wrong and no sign of a wall just a long fence and while rocky there’s no chance he’s fallen from a height

LBC news are saying he hasnt been identified but the body is wearing the same clothes. Cant think it could be anybody else.
really sad I really liked him.
I would not think he would be depressed as he did lots of pod casts on keeping yourself happy and fit. he seemed a very charming and jolly man. He will be missed. RIP Michael.

Watching those videos you can’t help but think he’s had a medical episode of some kind rather than a fall. Poor man.

At least he wasn't lost and suffering - perhaps he had a cardiac event and died quickly. 😔

A sad outcome but not unexpected. The good thing is he is found and is not missing forever with family and loved ones always wondering and bereft for the rest of their lives.

so sad and tragic ending to a life well lived. He’s certainly left a legacy and saved so many lives.

I just want to add my thoughts of sadness at this news. I suppose, in time, it might be of some comfort to his wife and children that he was found relatively quickly and they won't have to wait for months or years not knowing, unlike the familes of Julian Sands, Esther Dingley and that poor lady who was found in her sleeping bag not far from the path she lost track of on the Appalachian trail.

For now they must be utterly desolate and I feel for them deeply.

The wall image is confusing. From David Brown's videos, it looks like there is medical or S&R equipment sitting next to it.

The fence is the location of the body. You can see on this (old, unrelated) image how close he was to the resort.

The mayor was with a tv news crew this morning filming the coastline from a boat.

They spotted something on the hillside,

One of the party zoomed in with their camera, realised it was Michael. They then rang the bar manager to go up and check as the body was by the boundary fence, which he did.

It's all in an interview with the bar guy - in the mirror, I think.

I did wonder if there would be a hiatus between finding the body and releasing the news to allow the family some space, to inform wider family etc. This does happen, but seems not to have been the case here - not for any length of time anyway.

One of David Brown's Twitter videos shows just how near to the beach bar the body was. If he died a few days ago, as the police have said, then surely diners and staff would have seen him there.

Oh how very sad, I'm so sorry to read this. His poor family. Poor man, awful way to die.

Moving interview

Like everyone else, my thoughts are with his wife and family. Not the news they wanted but better than no news. Very sad.

@MattDamon Thanks, I think you're right that it is some equipment on that other image as looking at other videos that bit was right next to tables at the bar so he wouldn't have been at that spot.
