Thanks for the new thread. Hopefully he will be found today.

(Can we keep this thread pleasant and respect other’s opinions, please).

Christ0nABike · 08/06/2024 13:31

Thanks. Fingers crossed he is found today. Can only hope for a miracle he is somehow still alive.

AhBiscuits · 08/06/2024 13:32

Thanks for the new thread. Surely there will be news today.

OpenRoadYeehaw · 08/06/2024 13:33

Place marking.

Instantcustard · 08/06/2024 13:34

I'm playing for a good outcome today.

headstone · 08/06/2024 13:35

Praying for Dr Mosley and his family today.

Baklavamama · 08/06/2024 13:35

Thank you. Really hoping he’s sheltering somewhere out of the sun and is found today.

beergiggles · 08/06/2024 13:35

Praying for a miracle 🙏🏻

Thegreatgiginthesky · 08/06/2024 13:36

Me too, I have been listen to his sleep podcasts before bed every night as they are so helpful but could not bear to last night, just praying he is safe.

Girlofyourdreams · 08/06/2024 13:36

Thank you for the new thread.

Another one still praying that he's found today.

2Old2Tango · 08/06/2024 13:37

I really really want a positive outcome but the more time that passes, the more bleak it seems. My DD is in Rhodes at the moment and it's been close to 40 degrees in the daytime, and still 30 degrees at 10pm. He was sensible to have an umbrella for some shade, so I hope he was carrying some water with him too. Please let it be today he is found.

Alltheyearround · 08/06/2024 13:37

I'm praying too. I so hope this situation has a good outcome and that he had enough water to survive a few days.

wherehaveallthegoodfolkgone · 08/06/2024 13:40

Prayers being said here too. Love Dr Michael Mosely, his podcasts got me through some very dark times.

SallyWD · 08/06/2024 13:41

Really hoping for news - good news, today

pearlsundersea · 08/06/2024 13:42

I am very much hoping for a miracle. As a doctor, he would know the best things to do to ensure his survival, if there is any chance of it, so there is that.

I am certain he will be found today. Keeping logged on for an update.

My DH is involved in search and rescue, so we had a talk this morning about how they approach a search for someone missing. It is complicated, as so many factors which start with the age and fitness of the person (eg a person with dementia will tend to take a path and keep going along it, a frail unfit person will probably choose an easier or downhill path at a crossroads etc) , then they think about the emotional state of the person, and their general personality and habits. Then you start with the last known sighting of the person and there are techniques for working out how to radiate outwards, like spokes in a wheel, thinking of possible destinations , with the spokes being paths, roads or trails.
There are are so many different things to consider depending on landscape and climate too.
I very much hope he is found this afternoon.

Justrelax · 08/06/2024 13:45

I want a miracle for this man and his family so much. A broken ankle, a cave with shade, a source of water. I know it's unlikely but I still hope.

Baklavamama · 08/06/2024 13:47

That’s so interesting @SirVixofVixHall . What did you dh think about them stopping between 8pm and 7.30am? I’ve just returned from Greece, and while it’s not as light as it is in the uk, it is still light outside those hours and I would have thought they’d be able to start earlier? But I also suppose they can’t exhaust the searchers.

ssd · 08/06/2024 13:49

Am really hoping he is alive somewhere injured but alive and the rescue party finds him.

Yeah and his body is used to being inappropriate fasting state. So he's got a chance

Oaktree55 · 08/06/2024 13:51

I very much doubt anyone would wish him ill however in all likelihood the only positive thing that is salvageable from this is education. There are so many “perhaps he found a stream” etc. He’s a Dr. he’d know what to do.

Fact is either knowingly or perhaps through a medical incident clouding his judgement he’s made some crazy decisions. Late 30’sC in shade and higher humidity and you’ve just arrived from UK and aren’t in the best of health is not something to be underestimated. If you go abroad to a hot country just think about how you behave. That’s all we can likely salvage from this situation now. Yet people are being berated on here for expressing common sense.

MaryMack · 08/06/2024 13:52

I’m still optimistic that he’ll be found safe and well, and there’s a rational explanation for his disappearance, whether that’s of his own volition or an accident/illness

Thegreatgiginthesky · 08/06/2024 13:53

Looking at the last CCTV sighting it shows him near the yacht club, not actually on the mountain path yet. I wonder if it is possible he is on a boat somewhere, maybe he had an offer of a boat ride back?
