A report on Twitter is saying it was the mayor that spotted him from a boat with a news crew.

A body has been found.

Just came here to say the same. How awfully sad but it was looking like the inevitable outcome.

The discovery was made in a rocky area near Agia Marina on Symi island.
Police and coastguard officers are now on the scene.

The body was spotted from a boat in the marina before being discovered by the manager of a local restaurant.
