Following on from thread 1, linked below.

Let's hope the CCTV / sighting in town gives a glimmer of home that he made the walk from the beach to town ok.

It’s such a small search area that is what is perplexing. They have drones, dogs, thermal imaging. That is why I thought he must have sadly fallen in the sea. However if the second part of the route is not coastal? We need more info on that route I think.

quizzys · 07/06/2024 17:02

The snake bite theory/possibility was mentioned when the searches first started, stated by one of the search and rescue team I think. It was mentioned in the first thread.

Even if that happened, surely he would be found anyway. Baffling isn't the word is it?

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 17:04

his 4 children have gone out there and joined in the search.
his poor family

JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/06/2024 17:04

You’d think the dogs would have found him.

itsabitdamp · 07/06/2024 17:04

It's hard to believe that with all the publicity, he wasn't seen after that 1.50pm cctv sighting. He looks pretty distinctive.

Lifeomars · 07/06/2024 17:04

By co-incidence I was watching a Channel 4 thing on YouTube "Secrets of your big shop" the other day which he presented. What a lovely sensible, down to earth, empathetic man he is. So kind and understanding to people who have issues with health and diet. Really hope he is found safe and well

Delatron · 07/06/2024 17:05

I think the initial theories such as snake bite/ collapsing can’t be true as he would have been found by now. It’s a very small search area. They have brought in loads more resources.

loveyouradvice · 07/06/2024 17:06

I think there is just one dog ... But I have high hopes of a dog following his trail, unless he's got into a vehicle....Im surprised they havent told us the results of this yet, since the dog and handler have been working since this morning

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/06/2024 17:06

I was wondering… and I hope it hasn’t happened but could someone have attacked him there? After he was last seen. I know it’s a stunning island but they’re not immune from people being violent.

I think there was also the rucksack, cap and sunglasses which made it more unusual for 2 men to be dressed like that. But again the media may be spinning this. It’s hard to know what to believe.

Yes, and the umbrella. Unless everyone buys a sunshade umbrella from the same shop?!

That’s what won me over. Before I’d just thought oh he’s a doctor who gives out diet advice and his Fast whatever diets.

He came across as such a likeable man, funny, empathetic and non judgmental and suggesting different lunches for people and trying out the latest diet and food fads. I love him!

SallyWD · 07/06/2024 17:08

This is so mysterious. I was pretty sure he must have fallen in the water on the first bit of the path. That's the bit everyone said was most dangerous and they haven't found him inland. But he made it to the town and now I can't imagine what happened!

This is all very odd. I wonder if he’s disappeared on purpose?

There’s a really bad taste blind item mentioned on another site that sort of suggests this.

It’s just really dreadful, I wonder if much time was wasted searching the coastal path before they realised he’d made it to Pedi. Really feel for his family and friends.

Someone would have seen it’s busy tourist place.

Oaktree55 · 07/06/2024 17:10

So in summary he was last seen on CCTV in Pedi and their accommodation is in Symi? He was potentially seen waithing for a bus to Symi (however discounted footage of him)? Or perhaps he attempted to walk to Symi apparently there are routes of c 1hours walking? Can the search and rescue really be sure they have searched the whole walking route(s) area between Pedi and Symi? Seems incredibly ambitious given how small the original search party was (I know it has been expanded in last 24 hours or so).

thebillcollector · 07/06/2024 17:11

Theweepywillow · 07/06/2024 16:41

Actually you’re right. However the news outlets are saying they have seen it, and they think it looks identical to him. I wonder why it’s not being released.

Probably because the holiday makers in the photo don't want their pics broadcast to the world for no reason? Just so we can play, is it, isn't it

rellies · 07/06/2024 17:12

I'm sure I remember that he once had an episode of amnesia. He was taken to a hospital where he was recognised . I've just googled it and it was after a swim in the sea. He says it 'wiped out his memory'.

I’ve seen that blind - if there’s any truth in it, he would be fully aware of the search for him and surely would have been in contact with someone to say he was ok?

Oaktree55 · 07/06/2024 17:14

So if the papers are correct and his eventual destination was Symi it is apparently walkable from his last sighting in Pedi but I haven't read that they have been focussing on this area they seemed to have focused on the beach to Pedi coastal route.

Thats interesting but surely someone at a medical facility would be informed enough to know there was a high profile missing person on the island, they wouldn't be trying to find out over 2 days later

Edited

The sighting of him walking by a bus stop was a witness and not CCTV. The CCTV was from much later in the afternoon and that is what has been discounted as not him.

They are apparently interviewing the bus drivers to see if anyone saw him boarding a bus.

I thought we'd have news by now.

I wonder if he'd been to this place before. It does look more possible to get lost on the walk back if they'd only done it the once on the way down that morning.

GuinnessBird · 07/06/2024 17:17

Has he been to this island before?

I'm preety sure they said he had a swim in the sea on Wednesday morning before he went missing. I wonder if the same thing happened again.

Well yes, you’d hope so. I am assuming it’s not true, if it is and it’s made it to a blind items site you’d hope the authorities are aware and doing whatever they need to!

That is well weird.
😮

The first thought I had is he changed his mind about going to the villa. Or returned to the original beach. Or gone to explore somewhere else after getting to Pedi. Sort of thing you might do on holiday and think you had plenty of time before you were missed. But presumably anyone could have thought this and cctv, dogs, divers and drones etc are covering all bases.
