Following on from thread 1, linked below.

Let's hope the CCTV / sighting in town gives a glimmer of home that he made the walk from the beach to town ok.

@MyQuaintDog I forget my phone all the time and also leave it behind deliberately but I've never accidentally left it in a public place.

Im 28 and constantly forget my phone. I once left it in the trolley at tesco.

Not relevant to this, but I have.

skulkoffoxes · 07/06/2024 17:37

But if it’s not him om the cctv, would that other man not have come forward by now? I’m not in the UK but it’s on the news everywhere.

Instantcustard · 07/06/2024 17:38

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 07/06/2024 17:35

No ones saying it was abandoned on the beach, it seems to be fairly consistently reported that it was in their holiday accomodation the whole time

Ok. I stand corrected!

TokyoSushi · 07/06/2024 17:38

I wonder if he's not on the island any more, but assume he'd then have to go by boat, which would probably be very small so somebody would have seen him...

MaryMack · 07/06/2024 17:38

Maybe he’s in the throes of a mental breakdown and has disappeared to protect himself, not realising the consequences?

I don't know what happened and I hope he's well, but it's actually really common for middle aged and older men to take themselves off for a bit when life all gets too much. I know two men who've done it recently.

He is a man who shares much with the media health wise, his wife is a GP so understands confidentiality, if he wanted time out do you think he would do it whilst staying at a friend's house? Or just talk to his wife?

Then there was Agatha Christie's famous disappearance in the 20s, thought to have been the result of a mental health crisis. Does happen.

Mandiba24 · 07/06/2024 17:39

Has anyone mentioned him possibly having had another TIA ? I remember reading an article he wrote a few years ago where he said he suffered a TIA after he went swimming. At the time my mother had experienced the same thing and for that reason I never forgot it.
It would explain a lot if it did happen to him again.

MaliceInWanderland · 07/06/2024 17:40

Poor man and poor family. Really hoping he turns up well, despite all the odds

theaL · 07/06/2024 17:40

My guess is there's a crisis of some sort. Usually people in the public eye feel immense pressure to appear well. He has obviously reached a bad way. I can't imagine he's been abducted or murdered. Also why go for a walk on his own? I wonder if things will come to light over the next few days after they start talking to people.
I just hope It's like the lady who went missing fairly recently on her dog walk. They brought everything to the surface, her poor family must still be devastated about that, and it turned out she had genuinely fallen.

thebillcollector · 07/06/2024 17:40

. . . 2 days is a long time for 24 hr memory loss. It can't be that.

theaL · 07/06/2024 17:41

It's *not like the lady

Miloandfreddy · 07/06/2024 17:42

Following with so much interest.. really hope he's found safe and well but unfortunately it's not looking likely.

Re the snake bite, that seems unlikely? Surely they don't often cause instant death?

Depending on the snake even adders can be dangerous. Add into that possible heatstroke and I can’t imagine it’d be pleasant, but the snake they mention is apparently rare.

It IS him in the CCTV images that are all over the media, walking along with the umbrella.

It is NOT him in the CCTV that his wife has seen but hasn’t been publicly released because she said it wasn’t him.

The lookalike man footage should only be released in Symi, in my opinion.

I don't know, I only know how he presents publically, I have no idea who the man really is, but both the men I know are people who "should" have known how to help themselves, surrounded by people who would have supported them if they'd known.

That doesn't mean it's easy to ask for help, possibly makes it harder if your image/outward personality is all about being capable.

FrancisSeaton · 07/06/2024 17:43

I saw on an article think it was a metro article that he was seen asking about port boats

Is one of them Rishi Sunak? He did this just yesterday!

Maybe, he was thinking of taking himself off for a trip because things had got too much and didn’t think this would be an issue. So a boat trip. But then he’d be seen where the boat goes, eg to Rhodes. Or wherever boats go from Symi. You’d think he’d let his wife know this if it was the case.

TokyoSushi · 07/06/2024 17:48

I feel that the cctv makes it more likely he'll be found now rather than having gone into the sea.

on the CCTV, looking in the shop window, pretty definite to be him

Thread 2 is better because not everyone's debating the definition of elderly or letting us know whether they do or don't take their phones on walks.
Let's not bring up the phone issue again!

Or emojis 🙏😁

Delatron · 07/06/2024 17:49

I just think if he had taken himself off somewhere he wouldn’t want all these people searching in this heat. And the poor dog. He seems like a kind, empathetic man.

nobeans · 07/06/2024 17:49

MarkWithaC · 07/06/2024 16:27

Really odd that there may have been someone looking and dressed so similarly to him in such a small place.

Not really. It's probably quite a common look among British tourists
