Following on from thread 1, linked below.

Let's hope the CCTV / sighting in town gives a glimmer of home that he made the walk from the beach to town ok.

I don’t think he has heart problems. He had diabetes and fatty liver disease years ago but he resolved that.

And his wife says he went for a walk.

Wow he always looked healthy and slim. Even years ago.

You’re like a dog with a bone @barleyrice.
Just stop.

I wrote one post, in response to a self-serving, history-rewriting load of bollocks.
Hardly a dog with a bone. Maybe you could back off.

You can stay and have opinions just as much as the ones having a go at you @Ilikeadrink14.

Some people are like a dog with a bone, it’s just the way they are.

Sorry about your husband, you must be so sad.

Thank you so much. Your sympathy really helps. Yes, I am very raw about the death of my husband and I think this clouded my judgement when I posted. Above all else, I would just wish for this lovely man to be found safe and well. I didn’t mean to be the cause of so much unpleasantness.

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 08/06/2024 12:53

If it helps @Ilikeadrink14 you could always ask for your original post to be removed. You could explain to mnhq that you are sorry you made it, the same way you explained on this thread.

Yes, I remember it was about being a TOFI thin on the outside fat on the inside, didn't he do a study on that at one point?

IDontSleepIDream · 08/06/2024 12:54

I think they will find him today now they are looking in the correct area. Hopefully still alive but very unlikely. I think he probably had a heart attack up on the rocks due to exertion/heat but hopefully I’m wrong.

You don’t have to leave @Ilikeadrink14 , your comment was fine. I wouldn’t have left my DH to walk back miles alone if he felt unwell either especially without a mobile phone. Some posters like to have a go whatever one’s opinion.

The marina CCTV (the latest CCTV released that suggests he took the difficult mountain path) has me a little confused.

I am no CCTV expert but I’ve never seen CCTV that holds steady for a few seconds and then shakily pans in like it’s handheld mobile footage.

Can be seen here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/c7229k07kxwo

I’ve been trying to think of reasons for it to look like handheld mobile footage? Is it a mobile recording a screen of CCTV footage?

Man thought to be Michael Mosley on CCTV

New CCTV shows Michael Mosley walk past marina

The footage shows a man with an umbrella walking towards rocky terrain northeast of Pedi.

User14March · 08/06/2024 12:55

@Chilliandrice presumably he’ll be found on or near the ‘path’ if so? It’s puzzling he’s not been discovered yet as they now seemingly know where to look (?)

Was away from phone for a while; fully expected news when I came back, but still nothing. It’s looking less likely that there’d be a positive outcome; I hope I’m wrong. His poor family.

News takes a while though. I imagine that if they find him or find a body (I hate typing that), then they need to move it, inform the family, have it identified, comfort the family. I imagine it would be many hours before it's splashed all over the global news.
If they find him alive then the priority is to get medical treatment. They won't want a media circus in the first couple of hours.
There's still hope. I really belive that.

amusedbush · 08/06/2024 12:57

I'm just catching up on this thread as I was away yesterday and I'm confused about the "different shorts" comments. I have looked at the CCTV stills of him walking with the umbrella and his shorts look exactly the same as the shorts he is wearing in the photograph on the beach - the one where he's side-on, zipping up his backpack.

Or are the different shorts shown in another piece of CCTV footage?

Ground looks white.
Yes I thought it was weird footage.

User14March · 08/06/2024 12:57

@SallyWD that’s reassuring, the terrain looks barren & as he had a rucksack & umbrella too, he will surely be found soon.

He does it’s in Guardian interview he had blocked artery and all his male relatives haven’t lived past 72 he says a big red flag for heart problems. These facts are in interviews he’s given. He’s also had episodes of amnesia/TIA’s again readily available info he’s given himself in interview.

Thisoldheartofmine · 08/06/2024 12:59

@barleyrice what are you trying to achieve with your repeated criticisms of Ilikeadrink ?
She has apologised and explained her post.
Ilikeadrink14 · Today 09:37

To those I upset with my comment, I apologise. My beloved husband has very recently died, and the fact that Mr Mosley’s family let him go home alone struck a nerve with me. I didn’t think it through before commenting.

could you just leave it now ?

Alternatively, maybe you could leave it.

Seems the pack has turned their hunt onto me.

It seems the path is not clear and could easily have got lost

I logged back in to say exactly this! It really doesn't look like CCTV footage - more someone recording from a mobile phone.

That got me thinking, why? Why would someone film someone walking along a street. Unless they recognised it was MM and was just filming "a famous person" to show to their friends.

I have a more sinister theory too but I really, really hope I've watched too many Vera's.

This was very early CCTV that his wife said wasn't him as the man was wearing different coloured shorts. The CCTV that clearly does show him was discovered later.

Yes, youre right. The police often take recordings of recordings (so recordings on their mobile phone of a video someone has taken as evidence, or in this case CCTV)

Iwasafool · 08/06/2024 13:02

SabrinaThwaite · 08/06/2024 12:41

Depends what ’feeling unwell’ (as it’s been reported) actually means. Could be anything from ‘I don’t want to sit on a beach today and I can make my excuses and head home for a cold beer and a good book’ to ‘I am beginning to feel seriously ill’. As both his partner and a medic, his wife would be well placed to make a call about whether he needed accompanying or not.

Not aimed at MM or his wife but I don't think doctors are always the best at making judgements. Two examples I have is a friend who ran a nursery told me it was generally doctors who took kids into nursery when they were too ill to be there and seemed oblivious when it was pointed out, 2nd is me being mortified taking child to A&E 3 hrs after he broke his arm, I was busy and he didn't complain of pain or anything. Dr in A&E said not to worry as one of his colleagues had his child walking round on a broken leg for 2 days before he brought her in for an xray.

I'm sure doctors vary like the rest of us, some on the anxious side and some very gung ho.

Personally I hate the heat and I'd definitely feel a migraine coming on and head back to a cool house, cold drink and a good book.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 08/06/2024 13:02

The moving shots are clearly someone recording the CCTV screen on their phone. Probably for ease of releasing it to the media.

Aquarius1234 · 08/06/2024 12:57

I think it’s possibly someone who’s screen recorded the CCTV footage. I’ve done this myself with ours when wanting to send someone something and it ends up like this 😂

SlightlyJaded · 08/06/2024 13:04

@DiscoBeat yes, wells/crevices etc is my thinking.

He is almost certainly inland.
He almost certainly got hot/lost/confused, had a fall, was bitten by a snake or had a medical emergency
He is off the path (or they would have found him)
So he either wandered in the wrong direction or fell down something.

It's awful and I pray he is found, but I don't think it's a great mystery. If you consider the terrain, heat and all other factors, it's not a hugely shocking that he has come to harm. It's also possible his previous amnesia kicked in due to excessive heat and dehydration which may have caused him to become confused and walk in the wrong direction.

He seems to be a lovely man and I very much hope he is found alive today. He will need to have had a shit ton of water on him though and I fear the worst now.
