What do I wear to Taylor Swift - daughter just vetoed my outfit!

Hi,

Off to Taylor Swift on Saturday :-) Feeling like an excellent mother!

I was just going to wear jeans and a t shirt, maybe white jeans and a colourful new flowy top I just got. But she looked horrified that I wasn't making an effort!

I'm in a FB group and people are banging on about outfits, writing a 13 on your hand (no idea!), bracelets. What happened to just turning up and buying an overpriced T shirt?

Daughter picked out a new monsoon dress in yellow I just bought, which is fine for work or floating about on a sunny day, but I think I will feel like a frump at a concert!

I basically have no time now! Unless I head up to Murrayfield this afternoon and hit up the merch truck early....apparently it is already open!

I swear I am haemorrhaging money for Taylor Swift, and I live in the is bloody city!

Oh goodness, I better tell my daughter this. She is taking her youngest to see Taylor swift next year. I haven't heard about the dress code yet.

Caplin · 08/06/2024 12:20

Thanks for all the updates!! I might switch to black trousers, white top and black and white cardigan….and a coat!!! I really don’t want to be cold!! Meanwhile my daughters are wearing virtually nothing! I convinced them to wear tights and an extra vest top!

Can the people who were at Murrayfield tell me what time Taylor was on stage please? Not bothered about the support act and don’t want to arrive too early!

Can you also tell me what time it finished please.

7.30 but I'd slow plenty time for queuing and getting there. Lots of trams stopping in town but no room for anyone to actually get on it. We got on at Newhaven and it filled up at ocean terminal. No one got on after the middle of leith walk

Wear what ever you want! How disgracefully, unspeakably rude of your dd.

Really?? You must’ve led a sheltered life if you think this is “disgracefully, unspeakably rude” 😂

Wendalicious · 08/06/2024 16:24

Sorry to ask again but does anyone know for the Wembley gig on 23rd it says 3:15 start presume that’s when the doors open! I’ve forgotten how it all works ☺️

Wendalicious · 08/06/2024 16:26

As in it’s not a “matinee” but the same times as the evening shows? Thanks 🙏

Tell me you don’t have a teenage DD without telling me you don’t have a teenage DD 😂

'Unspeakably rude' - hahaha get a grip ffs. Part of the fun of Eras is the dressing up. Fine if OP doesn't want to but its hardly 'disgracefully rude' of dd.

This place sometimes. I'm 50 years old and most of you are so fucking dull I can't bear it.

NoNameisGoodEnough · 08/06/2024 18:38

My DD tells me my era is Lover according to what I am wearing.

Slightly stressed about the transport. There are shuttle buses on from Liverpool to Anfield but it is getting out at the end and meeting DH to get home I am concerned about. I guess you just have to crack on with the crowd.

What a ridiculous overreaction 🙄

PadstowGirl · 08/06/2024 20:52

Unspeakably rude? Really?
Are you Mrs Rees-Mogg?

fatimashortbread · 08/06/2024 20:59

Go with your Era - I am going in a Rush t-shirt.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 09/06/2024 19:05

How was it, OP?

How was it, OP?

It was amazing!!!! In the end I wore the yellow dress, got carried away in the excitement and glad I did as I wasn’t too cold (thanks to the cosy hospitality suite and unlimited wine!).

I cried when she came on, mainly because my kids were so excited, even the one who said she wasn’t bothered by Taylor! I can’t believe she sang for over three hours and was still skipping about by the end like she had just started.

It was so friendly and inclusive, and there is something mind blowing about 73.000 people singing every song.

worth every penny!

top tip to those in other venues and seated, aim for the loos behind the stage, no one is seated there so the queues are way less!

so to everyone who is still to go, it was fab. Dress up, whatever…take layers!! And hit the early merch Q so you are free to just enjoy the day. Go early because the atmosphere is fab.

also, Paramore are amazing, don’t skip them!

I'm so glad you had an amazing time, and glad you wore the yellow dress - it seemed very suitable.

I hope you've got a lovely photo of you and your DD that she can show her grand kids "this is me and your great gran going to see Taylor Swift in concert. That was long before she became President of course."

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/06/2024 23:47

I'm going with my 2 daughters in August.

Please tell me more about the friendship bracelets. Are they the ones you make from woven embroidery cotton?

lucysmam · 10/06/2024 07:16

@Caplin glad you had an amazing time! I'm so excited for Saturday 💃

@RobinEllacotStrike most of them are beaded but do them however you'd like! I've attached a pic of some of mine - there are beads galore here!

No they are beads, often with some letter beads included with words or acronyms that relate to ts and/or her songs. My dd gets clay bead sets off Amazon and you can get packs with letters and bigger beads included.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 10/06/2024 07:21

Ah, that's wonderful OP, glad you had such a great time! She's just a force of nature, isn't she?

Might direct a few of the 'Why is she so popular, I don't understaaaaaaand?' posters to this thread 😂

TheaBrandt · 10/06/2024 07:27

One humphed that we should be watching Barbra Streisand or Catherine flipping Jenkins! Some people are truly living in an alternative universe.

You just know if they were plonked in the middle of the stadium would be blown away !

RobinEllacotStrike · 10/06/2024 08:36

Thank you for the bead bracelet guidance. What fab bracelets you are all making.

I've just ordered a bunch of beads in prep for once GCSEs are done later this week.

I've never been able to get that stretchy bracelet elastic to secure properly- I'll do some research.

We aren't going to TS until 20 August in Wembley so we have some time to make loads.
