What do I wear to Taylor Swift - daughter just vetoed my outfit!

Hi,

Off to Taylor Swift on Saturday :-) Feeling like an excellent mother!

I was just going to wear jeans and a t shirt, maybe white jeans and a colourful new flowy top I just got. But she looked horrified that I wasn't making an effort!

I'm in a FB group and people are banging on about outfits, writing a 13 on your hand (no idea!), bracelets. What happened to just turning up and buying an overpriced T shirt?

Daughter picked out a new monsoon dress in yellow I just bought, which is fine for work or floating about on a sunny day, but I think I will feel like a frump at a concert!

I basically have no time now! Unless I head up to Murrayfield this afternoon and hit up the merch truck early....apparently it is already open!

I swear I am haemorrhaging money for Taylor Swift, and I live in the is bloody city!

that frock is gorgeous! has DD seen the dress? as others have said you need to pick and era (album etc) of TayTay songs, check through song list and dress in similar mode to it. As someone else has said, red lipstick is a good start! Enlist DD in helping out! Enjoy, it will be so much fun!

My two Swifties have outfits all organised. Both completely unsuitable for a cold, wet night in Murrayfield. I've told them I'm wearing jeans, boots, one of many band t-shirts, a big jumper, scarf, cap and a waterproof jacket. They are horrified. I don't care. I'll be warm and dry.

BusySittingDown · 06/06/2024 19:36

Ugh, I'm so jealous. What a great mum you are!

My mum didn't get ME Taylor Swift tickets!

I'm 40 and my mum is in a nursing home but I'm still sulking. 😂

I couldn't get tickets 😭.

I had just come on to search for this exact topic. I'm going at the end of the month and will be travelling by coach so approx 2.5 hours each way so I need a level of comfort as well. DD is also driving me crazy about outfits and she is currently busy making bracelets

Mine too. Only she's now decided bracelet making is dull and asked if I would bloody make them instead!

I've told her I'm sending her back to Amazon for a refund.

Pedallleur · 06/06/2024 19:56

Those who are footing the bill for tickets, food, transport, merchandise get to wear what they want. If children want to be cold or wet for 3 hours it's up to them but they'll have a better night with something practical on standby

WittySloth · 06/06/2024 19:58

Anyone on here going to liverpool 14/6 ? Attending with my 13 year old I am very nervous about the sheer numbers there! Anyhow I was going to wear a green sequin mini & white t shirt but now think I am might be a bit old for that 🤣so going with a pink strappy dress and denim jacket just unsure on shoes!

idontknowaboutyou · 06/06/2024 19:58

Floaty long dress, cardigan, either converse sandals or cowboy boots . Tell her you are doing folklore. I'm 45 and that's what I'm wearing

gingercat02 · 06/06/2024 20:02

@Caplin you need to talk to @lucysmam she will put you right on Eras outfits

Haven't a clue what I'll wear this time but saw her in Wembley a few years ago and all I remember is that it was BOILING hot and we were in full on 30degree sun until about 9pm. If it's like that again I'd be avoiding sequins and polyester!

In Edinburgh it's currently about 9c with a real feel of 7. No need to worry about overheating 😅

lucysmam · 06/06/2024 20:24

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain apologies if you've already given details (I'm only on pg2 so far & would forget your username by the time I get to the end 🙈). I'd maybe be interested in the jewellery info please!

Thank you! It was DD who rummaged through my wardrobe and suggested it, I might just have to get her to style me!

🤣 @gingercat02 I'm currently in my "I'm going in my bra and pants and stomping my feet era"! I'm having a bit of a post-chemo fuzzy hair & wonky boob moment 🙄

My jacket is all tassled though! And sequinned shorts at the ready. I need a vest top or something to wear on top & have a back up "surprise songs" ish dress waiting for me at the local shop. Bargain £4 & postage on Vinted. Also bought some snakey accessories to wear with the blue dress - Cassandra's one of my favourite songs on TTPD & she's often in pictures with blue in her clothing somewhere.

Tattoo pens sorted for 13 on our hands, and lyrics down my hands - a The Killers line for me!

Dd2's gone for Rep - snakes and sparkles galore. Hair will be full on natural curls. I'm just taking a break from bedazzling her Primarni converse type shoes.

Dd1's a mix of Rep/TTPD - snakey corset, flowy black skirt. Hair to be freshly dyed red tomorrow.

We're getting our nails done too, at the weekend & made a load of bracelets. I think I've been more enthusiastic than the girls but I've had a blast doing it all!

Oh! Almost forgot - we all have Junior Jewels t-shirts to travel in too 🤣 We'll pack sharpies & if we get chatting to any other concert-goers, get them to sign them.

The Killers gig the week after in Manchester will be jeans/band t/trainers/hoodie though! Maybe some bracelets from TS.

I've attached a pic of today's fancy bracelets...I'm rather enjoying making them!

(Yes, some of you will disapprove - I don't care so don't bother telling me 🤷‍♀️).

@Huckleberries73 You look fab - I wish I had your legs!

It’s all just a bit of fun. The way the world is now and how it’s been for years, I’m gonna take my happiness where I can.

Hecatoncheires · 06/06/2024 21:13

@lucysmam Those bracelets are gorgeous! My DD and I have been making them for months but took a break for exam season. Have yet to do TTPD ones.

HearTheirEverywhere · 06/06/2024 21:55

Love them @lucysmam, especially the January one 🎄👍🏻

Isometimeswonder · 06/06/2024 23:02

You wear what the he'll you want.

Devonbabs · 06/06/2024 23:26

I think £30-£40 for a tour shirt is pretty standard. It’s where many bands make their money. The venue will take a big cut of this. Since streaming artist make very little money from the music.

Wonderfulstuff · 07/06/2024 10:07

I just wanted to say how nice it is to read about all the mums and daughters going to a gig together and all the associated excitement💖

Gives me hope for when we hit the tween/teen years!

brogueish · 07/06/2024 13:38

Love this thread. I'm not going (and don't have a daughter) but it sounds brilliant. Love the commitment! Have fun!

lucysmam · 07/06/2024 14:04

£40 for a merch t-shirt is about normal for a bigger artist. Even the smaller artists I've seen live (some very very small) charge around £25 for theirs.

Thisismyhappyface · 07/06/2024 14:08

@Wonderfulstuff I cannot express the joy it gives me to have a teen daughter, moods and all! Watching her excitement for next week has been one of my parenting highlights so far 💖

MapleCreemee · 07/06/2024 14:12

I think this is fab! Honestly wear what you like, it's a very positive space for dressing how you want.

yumyum33 · 07/06/2024 14:21

Not going but love Taylor and am loving this thread.

Pedallleur · 07/06/2024 15:39

whichever venue you are going to I'm sure its going to be spectacular! Remember to drink plenty of water and remember where you are sat!!. Have a fantastic time. get home safely and wrung out after 3 hours of Taylor madness. Saw Springsteen a number of times do over 3 hours - fantastic but I was shattered (and I was just watching)
