What do I wear to Taylor Swift - daughter just vetoed my outfit!

Hi,

Off to Taylor Swift on Saturday :-) Feeling like an excellent mother!

I was just going to wear jeans and a t shirt, maybe white jeans and a colourful new flowy top I just got. But she looked horrified that I wasn't making an effort!

I'm in a FB group and people are banging on about outfits, writing a 13 on your hand (no idea!), bracelets. What happened to just turning up and buying an overpriced T shirt?

Daughter picked out a new monsoon dress in yellow I just bought, which is fine for work or floating about on a sunny day, but I think I will feel like a frump at a concert!

I basically have no time now! Unless I head up to Murrayfield this afternoon and hit up the merch truck early....apparently it is already open!

I swear I am haemorrhaging money for Taylor Swift, and I live in the is bloody city!

I am going full sequin 😂

My friend is going floaty dress (folklore).

I have never ever planned an outfit to a concert before in the level of detail I have this one. Normally it would be chucking on jeans and a top. I've bought bracelets and face jewels the lot.

Can't quite believe I'm going!

I'm so glad my DDs are old enough to go by themselves. My next gig is the Foo Fighters. I feel jeans, t shirt and leather jacket will be fine for that!

I'm seeing the Foo Fighters in a couple of weeks too 🤘
I'm glad there isn't any such angst about what to wear 😉

Haven't a clue what I'll wear this time but saw her in Wembley a few years ago and all I remember is that it was BOILING hot and we were in full on 30degree sun until about 9pm. If it's like that again I'd be avoiding sequins and polyester!

OP, if you have bought the tickets and organised the transport, then your daughter should just be bloody grateful and accept whatever you want to wear. Jeans and a T shirt would therefore be fine. How dare she try to veto your clothing choices?

Teen daughter looking horrified at mother’s clothing choice…. hardly something to get yourself in a twist about

I am going to taylor swift and this is what i’ll be wearing 🤷

Only going for my daughter. I randomly got tickets after being on the ticket site for all of 3 mins

I don’t think i’m your typical swiftie!

"Teen daughter looking horrified at mother’s clothing choice…. hardly something to get yourself in a twist about"

Yes but the correct response to this should be to tell DD she will wear what she wants because she has paid for the tickets, not purchasing an entirely new outfit to placate her demands.

nat1972 · 06/06/2024 17:30

I’ll be wearing a sequin top and matching skirt, with cowboy boots….14 year old son is horrified 😂

housethatbuiltme · 06/06/2024 17:54

maybe white jeans and a colourful new flowy top I just got.

Pair it with cowboy boots and thats very 'early country era' style. Pretty sure I have seen similar country artists like Maddie and Tae wear that exact get up.

SparkyBlue · 06/06/2024 17:56

I had just come on to search for this exact topic. I'm going at the end of the month and will be travelling by coach so approx 2.5 hours each way so I need a level of comfort as well. DD is also driving me crazy about outfits and she is currently busy making bracelets

To be fair I bought the dress for work/hols so it was already in my wardrobe when she went rummaging on my behalf. Might see if my cardigan also makes the cut!

Get something with a heart print and declare yourself as the Lover era! Or wear your jeans and stick on a cowboy hat!

DarkDarkNight · 06/06/2024 18:16

I’m not dressing up, I do have a TTPD cap and sweatshirt on the way or a ‘Not a lot going on…’ t and some red heart sunnies. I will see which era I feel like on the day. Honestly I don’t think you’ll be out of place especially not in a concert t shirt. There’ll be lots of people in normal clothes.

Silviasilvertoes · 06/06/2024 18:28

Oh that’s lovely! And even better if your daughter has given it the thumbs up.

fruitpastille · 06/06/2024 18:31

Posted on the other thread about what to wear already, but I've got a pale blue 1989 t shirt and a long silver skirt from Disko Kids. Although I might swap to jeans and sequin bomber instead of the skirt.

Crumpetsssss · 06/06/2024 18:33

I’ve decided I should put some effort in and dug out some cowboy boots and a tan leather jacket. I’m not sure if that puts me in the folklore or fearless era…

fruitpastille · 06/06/2024 18:35

I'm worried as we are flying and will land at 2pm. I was planning to get changed at the hotel and head to the stadium via macdonalds or similar. Will I have enough time??!! We're not standing.

Towelin · 06/06/2024 18:43

I'm wearing jeans and a knock off cheap eras tour t-shirt from etsy.

My daughter is full on sequins, glitter, sparkles etc. But has accepted my basic combo 🤣

CassandraProphesying · 06/06/2024 18:43

Are cowboy boots still a thing? DDs asked to borrow mine months ago but haven’t mentioned since - I’m assuming they’ll be nabbing them at some point!

Where are you staying? I doubt she will be on stage before 7, you should be fine.

I'm wearing a casual dress. There will be lots dressing up I'm sure, but I've watched a fair few Taylor Swift concert vlog type things and SO many just in casual comfy clothes, jeans, top, leggings etc.

Wear what you want and never mind what your daughter says!

I think I might head up to Murrayfield and have a look at the merch truck at lunchtime. I think tour t shirt and jeans fits my vibe better!

Sounds perfect!
