What’s your weight and height?

I’m 5ft 4 and after years of being overweight I’m finally down to 9 stone 6.
Recent conversation with friend who said I should aim for about 8 and a half stone for my height despite me currently being in the ideal BMI range.
just wondering what others are and if you are happy with your weight.
I realise we all carry weight differently so not a goady threat by any means.
For the record I was 11 stone before the weight loss.

Got weighed and measured recently at a check up so now I know for sure how tall I am - 162cm and 60kg, which puts me in the healthy range but the extra weight is all around my belly which makes me think its not so healthy. So I would like to lose a few kilos more.

I'm 5ft 4 and I'm around 12stone 3lbs. Started getting personal training sessions at the start of this year when I was about 184 lbs. Really should be tracking my food using an app, but I've lost my way with that...will get back on it. I think the accountability of having my PT sessions helps me keep an eye on what and how much I'm actually eating though.

I lost about 2.5 stone around 10 years ago (was 10 stone 1lb at my lightest), but put it all back on thanks to the old excuses of life getting in the way, getting married and having a baby! Have now left my abusive ex and putting myself (and DD) first.
My goal is to get down to 10 stone something (no timescale or anything) with an interim goal of getting down to 11 stone something.

Currently 9.5 stone, I'm 5ft 3. I workout 3 times a week and play two sports on top of that. For most of my life I was under 8 stone, but that was due to poverty and stress so I wouldn't recommend it! I don't think I looked better in old photos either. Health is more important than stress size!

Notimeforaname · 03/06/2024 12:32

5'2. I go between 7st 12lb and 8st 4lb.

amusedbush · 03/06/2024 12:56

I am 5' 5" and currently 9st 13lbs, having lost 118lbs over the last couple of years. I have been overweight or obese since I was a pre-teen and weigh less now at 34 than I did at 12 years old.

I have a fairly broad frame and my boobs are still a 32GG. I wear a size 8 in pretty much everything, though I wear a 10 in certain cuts of jeans (aforementioned broad hips). Despite having some loose skin, I look objectively slim and have no intention of going below 9st 5.

I am just touching 6ft tall and weigh 12.5 stone.

Hoping to be around 11.5 stone by Christmas!

I'm 5"6 and 63.5kg - that makes my BMI about 22.5 which is in the healthy range.

It's (quite a wide) range for a reason though, in that one individual's "optimal" BMI number will be quite different to someone else of the same height for a number of reasons. I could go down to 53kg and still be in the healthy range technically, but I would look and feel horrendous. I have a large chest and backside just structurally - nothing to do with fat - and I honestly don't think it would even be possible for me to lose 10kg without being hospitalised. I wear a size 8-10 and pretty active, so to my personal preference I look good and my body performs well, so there is absolutely no need for me to even try drop any amount of weight except maybe a kilo or so to feel extra trim on holiday if I were inclined!

I have a friend of the same height who is much more waif-life in frame, and I'd suspect she is mid/upper 50kgs, and she looks totally fine. Also healthy and active. If she gained 10-15kg, unless through some sort of competitive body building, she would still in the healthy BMI range but would look and feel overweight.

shearwater2 · 03/06/2024 14:54

DD1 is 18, 5'4" and nine stone. She dances competitively, is a size 6-8/XS in clothes, tiny muscly legs, slim frame, small bust, well proportioned, no fat on her at all.

I would suggest that your weight is just fine, OP! You have done very well indeed. I was about ten stone when I was 14, 5'4" and in size 12 clothes - a 1989 size 12, that is!

usernother · 03/06/2024 17:46

This thread is interesting because of the clothes sizes. When I in my late teens in the 1970's I was 7st 8. I'm 5ft 6. Looking back at photographs I was very scrawny looking. But my clothes size was 10 and they fitted me. You couldn't buy size 8 clothes, never mind size 6. I'm now 12st 2 and have lost a lot of weight to get down to this. I can fit into a 14 but I'm more comfortable in a 16. I'm happy at this weight even though I'm still officially overweight.

I'm almost 5 ft 3 and am currently 8st9 which feels a little big on me, I prefer to be around 8st4. I know that I am not overweight but I don't carry weight well, it's currently on my face and tummy and I just look doughy and jowely. I am very delicate framed however so I don't have much leeway for weight gain.

I don't carry weight well either. It goes on my arms, tummy and face. I am very overweight currently and I look like a bowling ball with legs. Working on it though. 🤣

Gosh that's lean, even at your unshrivelled weight! I'm envious - at 180-181cm (depending on who's measuring) I haven't been able to get under 70kg for 20 years. Do you have to work hard to stay so slim?

Ahhh, annoyingly, I think it’s just luck and genetics. I think I probably exercise quite a lot though, if that makes a difference. Since having kids I struggle to maintain my weight even though I try and eat a lot - it doesn’t look that good on me tbh!

MinnieMountain · 04/06/2024 06:22

@LesFreursDuMal how do you manage that day to day? I’m 5ft 10, currently 10st 1lb and I want to get back to 9st 7lb and stay there.

onlyhereforthefood · 21/08/2024 20:36

5ft9 and 8st7 which sounds light, but it's where my body has stuck since pregnancy and after years of eating disorders it's also a pretty good weight for me (I'm not saying it's ideal, but I eat over 2000 calories a day now and it doesn't budge either way)
