What’s your weight and height?

Ilovemycatalot · 02/06/2024 20:13

I’m 5ft 4 and after years of being overweight I’m finally down to 9 stone 6.
Recent conversation with friend who said I should aim for about 8 and a half stone for my height despite me currently being in the ideal BMI range.
just wondering what others are and if you are happy with your weight.
I realise we all carry weight differently so not a goady threat by any means.
For the record I was 11 stone before the weight loss.

ImOddsAndEnds · 02/06/2024 21:03

5'3 and about 7st11 at the moment.

BakedTattie · 02/06/2024 21:03

5’6 and 12.5stone. Trying to get down to 12stone but no stressing over it

fashionqueen0123 · 02/06/2024 21:04

Im somewhere between 5 foot 3&4 and I weigh about 7 stone 7 at the moment. I’ve been snacking a lot recently and noticed I put on a couple of pounds but it doesn’t bother me. Usually I weigh about 7 stone 1/2. When I got pregnant I was about 9 stone 10 before giving birth but it came off after about 6-9 months. I wouldn’t have minded keeping a little extra on but it never does.

JellyIegs · 02/06/2024 21:05

It’s so personal. We sound very similar, I’m maybe a tiny bit shorter than you (as in about a centimetre!) and also 9st 6. I’m a UK 8-10 in most stuff. I can afford to lose another pound or two but much more than that and I start to look ill. I don’t go to the gym or any organised activity but I’m just generally active and eat healthily on the whole. I think to be 8st I’d have to lose a limb! I’d say go by your clothes and how you feel rather than what you weigh :)

Portfun24 · 02/06/2024 21:06

5 foot 9, go between 8 stone 10 and 9 stone 3

ohthejoys21 · 02/06/2024 21:08

I'm 5'5 and 9.2 stone. A year ago I was 8'2 and looked a lot better. Dh keeps putting my favourite naughty's in the cupboards and my inability to ignore them pisses me off no end.

ACatCalledPuss · 02/06/2024 21:09

I'm 5'4 and 8 and a half stone. I've been as slim as 7 stone 10 when my thyroid was playing up and probably didn't look great at that weight. Ideally, I would like to be around 8 stone 3 pounds as I feel I'm carrying a few pounds around my stomach but can live with it!

HelterSkelter224 · 02/06/2024 21:11

5'2" and 9.5stone, heavier than my "normal" weight of 54kg (8.5stone) but then I'm harking back to my normal weight being pre-baby and I have just turned 40 so I'm not sure I'll ever get there again! Like another 5'2" pp I was 7 stone (44kg!) in my 20s, can't even fathom that now.

Meggie2008 · 02/06/2024 21:13

I feel like only tiny people are going to answer this thread.
Anyway, I'm 5'10, and I'm 98kg, which I think is around 15 and a bit stone.
I'm a size 14 in tops and a 16 on bottoms

CloverOrwell · 02/06/2024 21:15

5 ft 11, currently 11st 2 at eight weeks postpartum - my usual weight is 10st 8ish

LindorDoubleChoc · 02/06/2024 21:16

YABU

mrlistersgelfbride · 02/06/2024 21:16

I'm 5'6 and 10.5 stone.
Less than 3 years ago I lost a lot of weight and at my lowest was 8st 2!
Which was far too thin for me. Ideally I'd like to be 9.5 stone.
Sounds like you are healthy as you are.

It’s a crying shame we don’t have anything other than bmi. I am led to understand that no black people were used to create the chart, so I don’t understand why it asks for your ethnicity when you go to calculate-maybe they’re going to improve it?

I am Asian. It's because brown and black people get diabetes and other diseases at a lower BMI than white people. Ethnicity does make a difference.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 02/06/2024 21:18

5ft 7 and 8st 12ish
I think I look slim/fit/toned but not thin.

Blackcats7 · 02/06/2024 21:20

4ft and 30 stone. Or maybe I'm 6ft and ten stone.
Why on earth is there a thread like this?
Bit of stealth fat shaming perhaps?

cakecoffeecakecoffee · 02/06/2024 21:21

5’6” and 19 1/2 stone. Morbidly obese.

My goal is 11 st. I’ve lost 13lb so far…. a long way to go…

Q124 · 02/06/2024 21:22

I'm 5 ft 4 and 10 stone 1 in size 10 clothes. I'm a powerlifter so weigh more due to lots of muscle.

holjam · 02/06/2024 21:23

5'6 and currently 13st 11lbs.
I've dropped 2st 10lbs since August last year and aiming to get to 12st

Tooski · 02/06/2024 21:29

I’m 5’7 and 9st 12

I’m pretty muscular so look thinner than I weigh - I’m a size 8 in many clothes, which is odd as I weigh the same as when I wore 12/14.

percypal · 02/06/2024 21:30

This thread is so interesting - people of similar heights seem to have widely varying ‘happy weights’.

I am 5’7 and weigh 10 stone 13. I feel that to be 10 stone would be ideal but that’s not based on anything really. Seeing people of my height being between 8 and 9 stone is interesting.

oberst · 02/06/2024 20:42

I think it's lower end of 'healthy weight' on the NHS BMI?

Bmi of 17, which is underweight

Lentilweaver · 02/06/2024 21:17

I am Asian. It's because brown and black people get diabetes and other diseases at a lower BMI than white people. Ethnicity does make a difference.

Waist to height ratio is a good metric. Your waist should be less than half your height. Above that, it's likely that you have too much fat around your middle, which is what leads to ill health.

There's also a US military test that uses your wrist measurement as an indication of build - even when a person has too much body fat, their wrist circumference doesn't usually change that much.

BMI doesn't account for people with lots of muscle or a large skeleton. Or that men tend to be heavier than women at the same height and body fat percentage, again because they have more muscle. Weight is also difficult to measure accurately, especially on home scales. That number on the scales is only ever accurate within about half a stone for any individual measurement due to uneven floors and also changes in digestion, hormones and hydration.

Agii · 02/06/2024 21:32

5.9 or 175.5 and 68kg
It's okay 😅
