As the title says what is your favourite salad/side to eat along side the sausages and steak!

(looking for new ideas as the extra are my favourite bit!!!)

If you’d like the potato salad:-

baby potatoes whichever you like
make a simple French dressing
let potatoes cool down in colander then slice finely into a big dish
add French dressing and chives if liked

Watermelon, fata and mint salad
Homemade apple coleslaw.
Old school potato salad - new potatoes, chives and mayonnaise dressing.
Couscous salad with pomegranate.

I’m very unadventurous but personally can’t beat crisps and dip to snack on whilst waiting for BBQ food to cook!

Absolutely delicious salad made from cooked grated beetroot, chopped raw spinach, really good cherry toms sliced, and chopped bananas, all mixed with mayo.

My DH loves a BBQ but I draw the line at burgers and rolls every time so like to mix it up with various salads

We are having a BBQ today and have gone for (let me know if anyone wants any recipes)

Courgette salad with honey, lemon, garlic poppyseeds

Tomato salad with an olive dressing (had last night on grilled fennel…delicious!!)

Baby potatoes & BBQ’d asparagus (game changer!!)

This thread’s a keeper!

It's super easy to make. You can vary the amount of ingredients, but I usually just go 1:1 in weight.

Slice leeks and separate.
Finely slice celery.
Cube ham, pineapple, apple, cooled boiled egg.
Sweetcorn is best if tinned.
Layer each ingredient (order doesn't really matter, but I usually do leek, celery, apple, pineapple, egg, ham). Add creme fraiche after each layer of ham.

Cover and refrigerate for 12-24h, then mix all layers.

Add a tub of single cream and mix again just before serving.

We tend to keep it simple with 2-3 from:

Buttery new potatoes
Potato salad
BBQ'd potatoes
Rice salad
Pasta salad

Also like using the metal pan/dish we've got for the BBQ with a bunch of veg like peppers, onions, courgettes and mushrooms. Goes nicely with marinated chicken or steak but without faffing around putting everything on skewers!

Potato salad

Tabboulé. Soak small couscous in juice of approx 4 lemons. When soft, add grated cucumber, chopped tomatoes, chopped onion (red or spring) and chopped mint. Give it a good stir. Check seasoning (usually needs a touch of salt). Pop in fridge. Yum.

This sweet potato, chickpea and feta salad with tahini dressing. It's really tasty, looks pretty and I'm regularly asked for the recipe.

I'm boring but I love a good potato salad. So much you can do with it to give it a twist.

And red onion! Mmm. My fav coleslaw!

Warm Jersey Royal new potatoes in herb butter using handfuls of chopped fresh mint from my garden.

We had that last night and it was fantastic.
