Of the sexual abuse of boys.
I'm interested in a poll.
G = you think he was definitely guilty
I = you think he was innocent
(Stemming from a debate with DH last night!)

I think he was guilty.

He was so publicly adored that I think people find it difficult to reconcile that behind closed doors he did horrible things.

People seem to view Michael as innocent because he was abused as a child and spoke in a high pitched gentle voice, but this was an affectation much like Marilyn Monroe and Paris Hilton.

There are plenty of videos of Michael talking in his real, much deeper voice.

AnotherCrazyOldCatLady · 12/05/2024 09:50

Yes. Much as it saddens me. Hiding in plain sight. It was so obvious but he groomed us (his fans) into believing he was special and childlike and it was ok for him to have little boys in his bed.

Itsmychristmasdress · 12/05/2024 09:51

So obviously guilty I don't really understand how people defend him. The things they found at his ranch are disturbing

DelphiniumBlue · 12/05/2024 09:51

Yes.

bolderthan · 12/05/2024 09:52

G.
But his fans ate batshit and will insist he's innocent, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

bolderthan · 12/05/2024 09:52

are batshit.
Didn't eat it.

FiveTreeHill · 12/05/2024 09:53

G. Obviously

ICouldGoOnAnon · 12/05/2024 09:54

G

Fulshaw · 12/05/2024 09:54

No doubt in my mind he was guilty. Leaving Neverland sealed the deal. Can’t even look at a picture of him now, repulsive man.

effoffwind · 12/05/2024 09:55

Yes guilty
And find it quite upsetting that he's still adored by fans
If it was up to me we'd never hear another MJ song again

TheaBrandt · 12/05/2024 09:56

I don’t see how anyone could think otherwise than guilty after watching that documentary 😢

Newsenmum · 12/05/2024 09:56

I think it is more likely than not he was guilty. People say but he was lovely he was innocent he was childlike. Yes. And these wonderful ‘sweet’ people can do more than they should with children, whether or not you or ‘they’ think it’s right. I’ve known of two boys with learning disabilities who did this and it’s so sad.

frenchnoodle · 12/05/2024 09:56

Yes, he's was a very talented, very manipulative person who built up a public image of himself as an eccentric Peter Pan, all so he could access children.

However unlike someone like Jimmy Savile, his music still makes millions for Sony , so a lot of money is invested in keep up a level of reasonable doubt

Newsenmum · 12/05/2024 09:57

I’d like to hear what makes people think he’s innocent.

kalokagathos · 12/05/2024 09:57

Guilty

SuprasternalNotch · 12/05/2024 09:58

Why not actually make a poll?

QueSyrahSyrah · 12/05/2024 10:00

I'm on the app so can't vote but was only talking to DH about this yesterday that the BBC have no qualms about playing MJ songs on the radio, which to my mind is almost akin to running repeats of Jim'll Fix It.

I 100% think Michael Jackson was guilty but he somehow seems entirely uncancellable.

Whatinthe1997isgoingon · 12/05/2024 10:01

Yes definitely guilty.

But for all sorts of reasons people including myself would prefer not to believe it. Probably because he was so talented and adored and also money.

FunLurker · 12/05/2024 10:01

I think he's guilty.
What I don't understand is why the parents were allowed to be brought off.
Yes he was child like on the screen but he was still seemed capable of bringing up 3 children, run a house among things

SiobhanSharpe · 12/05/2024 10:01

Most probably G.
Had a horrendous childhood with highly controlling and exploitative parents (father).
It doesn't excuse it, of course but he was clearly a very damaged individual.

ladybirdsanchez · 12/05/2024 10:01

Guilty

chdjdjdnfn · 12/05/2024 10:02

G
I love his music but I can see beyond that and think definitely guilty.

OttoandHoney · 12/05/2024 10:02

Guilty. If the bloke down the road built a playground in his garden and invited little kids over to play in it then sleep in his bed we would be all over calling him a pervert, prob more so if she spoke in a silly high voice. But MJ was famous and people think he is exempt somehow.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/05/2024 10:03

I am sure that a non celeb would have been convicted on that evidence.

SiobhanSharpe · 12/05/2024 10:04

He wasn't called Wacko Jacko for nothing.
Plus - too much money, too little responsibility or accountability.
