I plan to ignore the next time an appearance is made.

Same. It's not even like you can have a debate.

It is very odd trying to have a debate with someone who thinks that their feelings are facts.

Quite!

YouGov

Rishi Sunak has said that the next election looks like it is going to be a hung Parliament - only 18% of Britons agree. Most (57%) expect a Labour majority

I think the next thread title should be Sunak: Hung parliament and Rishful thinking.

He would call it being a nearly winner

They were out on Newsnight in full denial mode on Friday. He is doing a grand job delivering for the people. His 5 aims are his focus and will continue to be. The fault lies with their voters being grumpy. The minister actually said that, that tory voters are just grumpy right now.

Zonder · 07/05/2024 11:11

To be fair I'd be grumpy if I was a Tory voter!

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2024 11:18

The only error there is that Greening has called Braverman -lite.

Nothing lite about her views.

Agree.

Pity such an article cannot be published in a paper with a wider circulation. Cannot imagine the Express or Mail would give Justine Greening space though.

The decision that the Tory party take as to who their next leader is after the election will determine how long they are in opposition for. Pick someone from the far right, or someone too weak to stand up to the far right and they will remain an irrelevance for a long time.

tobee · 07/05/2024 11:39

They made great choices after '97.

To they have any one of the quality of William Hague or Michael Howard left in the party?

Yes...with any luck 😁

There is an infuriating air of "Voters ? What do they know ?" about Sunak which really does make me wonder if he has any intention of calling an election.

I suspect there is a (poorly) cloaked part of the Tory party that thinks clinging on till Trump wins the US election will somehow magically make everyone cling to mummy tory.

And with rumours flying that Farage is set to jet over and personally take charge of Team Trump, victory is inevitable.

We aren't allowed to vote. Its not part of the Rishplan!

Maybe my memory is letting me down, but I don't remember him being as bonkers as Braverman, or as clueless as Raab.

He was a pretty rabid Home Secretary. Anne Widecombe, who was prisons minister under him described him as “having something of the night about him”. She was the one, incidentally, who supported women in labour being handcuffed to the delivery table.

She also made a huge thing about drugs, before every single member of the cabinet admitted having taken something at sometime in the past making her look quite ridiculous. (Which may have been the plan).

fabio12 · 07/05/2024 12:16

Someone like Rory Stewart would clean up, but they were too stupid to see what they had there.

Are we sure Count Binface hasn't put his bin on Rishi's head? I cannot see where they are getting data to suggest anyone likes any of them or their cruel policies. I'm really hoping there's a data company out there on a massive wind up or revenge mission on the Tories.

Zonder · 07/05/2024 12:48

I was thinking just today how different things would have been if Rory Stewart had won.

Really hope this happens.
I suppose in comparison to these Pygmy’s Howard was a towering beacon of being reasonably sane.
