Looks like spring has sprung! Tulips, apple blossom and early hay fever are upon us. In the TalkLair, we remain hunkered down keeping cosy and warm, because "something something 'til May is out". The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

I read the start of that delayed flight one earlier. Utterly bizarre to think it’s something someone would be lying about. Who’d want to extend their holiday in a disaster zone (unless they were in a position to help in some way).

That amused me too. There's no arguing with stupid.

It reminded me, though, that in the 80s I got stuck in Yemen for about 36 hours when some bit of the plane fell off on the flight in and they had neither the part nor the engineer to fix it. So we had to wait for the next morning's incoming flight, bringing in both, followed by the time taken to fix it. To their credit, Egyptair put us in the very best hotel in town and as I have a policy of always carrying swimsuits, washing kit and clean knickers in my hand-baggage, we had a great time! By the time we got to Cairo, we'd just missed the flight out and were put in another hotel ... very much less salubrious ... overnight.

There was really no way to contact work, so I just turned up 2 days late and my boss said "Oh, don't worry about it. I just assumed you'd been taken hostage."

Haha! Excellent boss reaction there! Yemen, though. That sounds like quite a story!

Mouse has a perforated oesophagus and is being operated on. I'm sure in these circumstances even electric candles are acceptable.

I just came here to say the same and am very relieved that Bint got here first. Will be deploying my mum tomorrow who is v holy. Possibly even the vicar, even though Mouse would probably recoil in horror....

Thanks Bint. Candles, a icon, fairy lights (cat safe when I'm out of the house) and firm words to guardian angles deployed here (have been since the weekend). Poor Mouse, she's had a rough time.
