The worst thing that's ever happened to me

I was out for lunch with DH and bit into a ham sandwich, not realising it had mustard on it. I blurted out "this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me!" 😂
Obviously it's not. I've had plenty of trauma in my life but whenever the conversation arises of 'the worst thing that's ever happened', that's what comes into my head!
So what's the (not actually) worst thing that's ever happened to you?

(Lighthearted 😊)

I remember once when I was pregnant and eating a sandwich and dh was teasing me going in for a bite, he ended up biting my finger which ruined my sandwich eating experience and also really hurt my bloody finger and i looked at him with daggers (he was so apologetic!!) and said he had ruined my lunch and I was never allowed to have anything nice 😂

And you're still married to him?!?!? 😂

The chef drowning my caesar salad that I’d been craving all day in dressing 🤢🤢 Can’t stand an overly wet salad!!

Meganmeccano · 04/04/2024 18:30

The other day I took a huge greedy swig of what I thought was my black coffee that had gone cold but was in fact DH's Coke. The shock of the sugar and bubbles was absolutely horrid (I also don't like Coke or any soda type drinks). I spat it out into the sink overdramatically then told everyone about the ordeal.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 04/04/2024 18:30

Last night when I made mine and kids packed lunches, lifted my box and my sandwich fell out on floor 😔Went in bin straight away. Laid on my bed feeling sorry for myself.

I trod on a big slug in bare feet.

It squished through my toes 😖

Being served goats cheese on a pizza. I was unsuspecting and on a first date. It is the devil's food and I was on the brink of projectile vomiting all over the table.

I did that in Labour 😱😱😱

I had a salad from boots that had a caterpillar in it.. also had a tesco sandwich a few years later with a caterpillar in it!

Free protein! 🤩

I won a box of Quality Street in a tombola. By the time I got to it a mere 2 hours later, the kids had eaten all my favourite coconut ones. I shouted at them for being selfish gits when they knew they were my favourites.

IHateLegDay · 04/04/2024 18:34

Cringing at all of these 🤢
If a movie was made about all of our ordeals, I'd like to be played by Anne Hathaway.

As a young child my Grandad said he'd bought me (and my siblings) a bar of chocolate each for after dinner. This was very rare as he didn't usually get us sweets. Being a chocoholic I was very excited, especially as I'd never seen this particular chocolate bar before (I was only used to milkybar, chocolate buttons or Caramac at that age. Imagine my dismay when I bit into it and discovered Turkish delight. I can remember trying so hard not to cry, not to be sick, and to carry on eating this monstrosity so as not to appear rude. It's still the only chocolate bar I can think of that I don't like Grin

I once bit into a nectarine and the stone cracked, and hundreds of tiny black earwigs (I only know they were earwigs as I googled at the time) fell out, all over me.

I haven't eaten a nectarine or peach ever since, and this was several years ago.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 04/04/2024 18:36

It was either the time I was incredibly pregnant (2 weeks over) with an 11lb 3 oz'er and couldn't see my feet, slipped my slippers on but they were on the wrong feet! I could have done what any sane person would do and slip them off and swap them over, but no, instead I had a full hysterical crying with snot type breakdown that took me hours to get over.
Or it could be the time my other half had the utter audacity to finish my kfc leftovers from the fridge, despite him having had an entire family bucket! He had to go for my skinless and boneless fillets! The utter bastard! It was 8 years ago and I still feel like stabbing him. Git.

QuestionableMouse · 04/04/2024 18:36

Recently - going to a nice cafe after a really shit walk and the (horrible cow) woman in front of me bought the last slice of gluten free cake. It was lemon drizzle and looked amazing - she didn't even eat it but it was the only gluten free option. I think she just wanted to ruin someone's day. I felt like pouring my tea over her head.

IHateLegDay · 04/04/2024 18:36

Another one that springs to mind, when I was about 8, I'd had a dream that I had bourbon biscuits on my bedside table and when I woke up, there weren't any there.
Ngl It was pretty traumatic

I really fancied a fishfinger butty, so treated myself to the massive ones and some really nice rolls, I made it and it looked delicious, was exactly what I fancied, put it on the side, went to grab my juice, and knocked it into the mop bucket 😢

I declared that it was the worst thing that's ever happened to me, and my kids reminded me that I literally had cancer at that moment in time and was off for chemo in a couple of days 🤣

They offered to go and get me the same stuff but I was all moody at that point and decided to starve dramatically instead 🤣

Davros · 04/04/2024 18:38

At a school event I took a big slug of "my tea", only to find it was my friend's milky coffee. I can't stand the stuff and came over all queer, nearly fainted.
We like a "there's nothing worse than...". Our favourite is "a Mike Leigh film".

I’ve done this. Genuinely upsetting and traumatic!

TerrifiedandWorried · 04/04/2024 18:38

Really sick in pregnancy, bought some nice fresh milk from the shop so I could have a nice ice cold glass. Completely off, puked for hours.

Pretty sure nectarines are ruined for me now 💀😂

Just remembered another! Dh was ill on Monday and Monday night. D&V we think. At 2am ran down hallway waking me up shouting HELP all whilst projectile vomiting over the hall floor and walls. I went to the hall but it’s a shit light there so couldn’t see the sick. I walk to the light at the end of the hall. I stood in his sick. It squished between my toes 😭

NCFTS · 04/04/2024 18:39

Biting into a peach and finding half a maggot/grub - the other half was obviously in my mouth 🤢
