The worst thing that's ever happened to me

I was out for lunch with DH and bit into a ham sandwich, not realising it had mustard on it. I blurted out "this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me!" 😂
Obviously it's not. I've had plenty of trauma in my life but whenever the conversation arises of 'the worst thing that's ever happened', that's what comes into my head!
So what's the (not actually) worst thing that's ever happened to you?

Years ago I ordered a fish finger sandwich in a cafe what came was a battered fish in a sandwich!!! Worst lunch ever!!

Oh god these are awful!

Yesterday I was WFH. My Dh went to work and said he'd bought a meal deal for me. Lovely.

He bought it on his way to work and held it ransom! He thought I'd call in and see him to get it. No idea why.

Sainsburys is on our road so the sandwich traveled further away from me by him getting it

The other day I took a huge greedy swig of what I thought was my black coffee that had gone cold but was in fact DH's Coke. The shock of the sugar and bubbles was absolutely horrid (I also don't like Coke or any soda type drinks). I spat it out into the sink overdramatically then told everyone about the ordeal.

My DD did this to me the other morning for an April fools prank. She brought me what I thought was a lovely black coffee in bed, and I took a big mouthful before realising it was a mug of cold coke. I like coke (although not from a mug when I've just woken up!) but the surprise made it taste utterly revolting.

Last night when I made mine and kids packed lunches, lifted my box and my sandwich fell out on floor 😔Went in bin straight away. Laid on my bed feeling sorry for myself.

I used to have very long hair. I fancied a change ( plus peri meno hairloss) so got it cut short. When I got home, I asked the kids if they liked it. DS2 said ' This is the worst day of my life!' and burst into tears! He was about 9 and he'd only ever seen me with long hair!

I once bit into a nectarine and the stone cracked, and hundreds of tiny black earwigs (I only know they were earwigs as I googled at the time) fell out, all over me.

I haven't eaten a nectarine or peach ever since, and this was several years ago.

Urgh that is horrific! I'd never eat a nectarine again either!

Made a lovely homemade ham sandwich with home made bread. got to work unwrapped my ham sandwich to find I had taken the sausages wrapped in tinfoil instead.

When my husband gave me tinned sweetcorn. I cried and told him it felt like he didn't love me because he didn't know that I hate tinned sweetcorn after 15years together. I do of course eat frozen sweetcorn......

I was working in Greenwich at a hip vinyl and cd company and I had a walk along the quay at lunchtime. A seagull pooed on me. It was too far away to go home so I had to rinse out my hair but the smell of fish lingered 😂

I had my hair cut today (nothing major). When DS11 got home, DH mimed to him that I had been to the hairdresser. DS said, "oh have you been to the hairdresser?" I said yes and DS added, "your hair looks great......just like before."

Well worth 95 Euros then ! 🤣

At work last week, I was having a lunch meeting with the headteacher, glanced down at the salad I'd made that morning and was v much enjoying, and saw half a spider in it.

That's a horror story in one sentence if ever I read one.

I can sympathise with your DH
My EXDH kindly made me lunch one day. Ham and mustard sandwich, he doesn't eat mustard, he wasn't aware to just put a smidge on. Instead he slathered it on like mayo. I was completely unaware and happily munched into my sandwich and swiftly had tears streaming didn't my face. He was never trusted to make me lunch again.

On holiday in Greece years ago, I bought some kind of cereal bar thing and was happily chomping my way through it. Half way through the bar I noticed there was something moving in it. The thing was riddled with maggots and I'd eaten half of it.

My DH is like this. Its very annoying! Tuna pasta bake with no sweetcorn from a tin? I have to go out especially to get frozen or chop up some peppers or something. Sometimes I just sneak it it

Trod on and popped a slug between toes whilst getting a glass of water at night. Makes me feel sick reliving it.

(and yes, people do get slugs in their kitchen, fuck knows how though).

I got thrush on holiday. Went into the pharmacy and asked for the oral Canesten. Opened the box and thought "cripes, that's a huge pill" and swallowed it, only to have it start fizzing in my throat because it was actually a pessary. Went into absolute meltdown, ran to the local hospital and explained though tears to the bemused doctors that I'd poisoned myself by eating a pessary instead of shoving it up my vagina.
