Is this odd for me to ask? - DSs girlfriend?

Ds has been with this absolutely lovely girl for around a year now. I adore her.

I managed to get 2 very good tickets for a band I love, and I know that she loves them too. The tickets were expensive so I want to take a fan.

Is it odd to ask her? I've bought tickets for ds, her and me to go to a couple of things before and its been fine, but this would be me and her alone.

It would involve travelling and an overnight stay.

This is my sons first serious relationship and I really want to include her in stuff, but don't want to be too overbearing either.

Would you feel weird if your boyfriends mum took you to a gig alone?

It was a great show, so glad you enjoyed it as well.

I didn't appreciate the confetti, I was right at the front, in front of the fans that were blowing it out, I could hardly breathe 🤣

I noticed at the merch stand there were confetti cannons for tenner, so by my estimation they used a million quids worth at the end there 🤣 no wonder the tickets were so expensive.

Hi everyone, just a little update.

We had a fantastic time at Take That, Howard, sadly, didn't fall in love with me (or he was playing hard to get) she really is an amazing young lady and it was great to spend some time with her, and, in other exciting news, she is now engaged to my son. I'm absolutely delighted for both of them.

Thanks again for all your advice.

Oh that is just fantastic. Lovely update

Thank you.

I'm absolutely delighted, she's amazing, my son is amazing, and her parents are wonderful to my son too.

I'm already freaking out about wedding planning but I've told them to please just ask and I'll do whatever they want, but I won't be inserting myself into anything on any level.

I just can't believe that I've been so lucky in the kid stakes, and now in the DIL stakes too.

I'm really glad you guys talked me through asking her to this, she said some things when we were away along the lines of being thankful that I just accepted her and loved her, no question, without waiting for a baby (a couple of her family members have had experiences where they werent accepted until they had a baby, and they felt like incubators apparently) so thanks everyone for giving me the push I needed.

Life is really good at after a really crappy few years so it's nice to just be walking about smiling.

I think this is probably the happiest result on a Mumsnet thread ever.
