Which activities make your heart sink?

Each to their own but which activities that your friends and family love are just not for you?

I’m genuinely pleased that others love it but I’m really not a fan of going for a walk unless there’s some other purpose e.g Exploring a city. I find it boring and difficult and often painful(Due to disabilities)

Also anything involving clubs or alcohol. I don’t drink and I have sensory issues so they’re too loud for me.

There are others but I want to hear what activities you dread.

TIA

10 pin bowling. I find it so boring.

Needmorelego · 06/03/2024 15:48

Going out for a meal
Going out "for drinks"
Going shopping as a day out to buy clothes.
I've never done this but I hate the idea of doing a "city break" and having to dash from tourist spot to tourist spot.
I really wouldn't want to go to a boxing match.

Bowling or slightly less awful is crazy golf

Walking. Don't mind walking at my own leisure, but I hate having to walk at someone else's speed. Especially if they walk much faster. I end up with aching legs after about 5 mins and getting a stitch. Walking does not clear my mind at all.

Drinks parties. You are standing around with a glass, nowhere to put your coat. Canapes come round and you can't balance the drink and eating one.

As you have nowhere to put your drink, and end up drinking loads with boredom. Trying yo make small talk with various people, not knowing how to excuse yourself.

However, dinner out with a small group max 8 is lovely, you are seated, conversation is general and you don't have to carry the whole conversation. There is less emphasis on drinks. I love when everyone is having coffee, people may have a second drink and it is lovely and relaxing.

Escape room, or anything with the word "team" in it!

Namechangedforspooky · 06/03/2024 15:53

Board games

Quite happy to watch with a glass of wine but leave me out of it!

cbbo · 06/03/2024 15:54

Fancy dress. Not a fan.

MississippiAF · 06/03/2024 15:55

Charades and the like at parties/gatherings. Just let people sit and chat with a drink!

NirvanaUnplugged · 06/03/2024 15:57

Going to the races.

Making phone calls.

SlipperyFish11 · 06/03/2024 15:58

Hiking. Running. Parties.

polkadotpixie · 06/03/2024 16:00

Karaoke. I literally can't think of anything worse

Aquamarine1029 · 06/03/2024 16:01

Going to a pub/bar to hear live music. Too fucking loud and the band is usually shite. I honestly can't handle loud environments anymore.

Cathbrownlow · 06/03/2024 16:02

crochet

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 06/03/2024 16:02

I agree about the clubs and alcohol. I also don’t enjoy taking part in or watching any kind of competitive sport. Football especially is so boring. I don’t see the appeal at all. And I genuinely don’t understand why I would support one team over the other. I care about them both the same, which is very little.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 06/03/2024 16:03

Watching a musical. Just utterly sphincter clenching awfulness.

Angelof29th · 06/03/2024 16:03

Oh god, crazy golf is the worst.

Mummypete · 06/03/2024 16:04

Walking aimlessly. I’m more than happy to walk miles if there’s a pub or meal at the end of it or exploring a new city but not just “going for a walk”.

ZittiEBuoni · 06/03/2024 16:04

Friends keep inviting me to a 'pints and pots' night making pots on a wheel in a back room of a local pub. The thought of it makes me want to cry. I really hope they lose interest in it soon.

Fancy dress. Not a fan.

Oh god this too

doppelgangermirror · 06/03/2024 16:04

'Games' here as well. I'm away for the weekend and a couple of people have suggested games for the Saturday night. Fucking hell.

Mummypete · 06/03/2024 16:05

Oh yes board games as well! There’s nothing worse than when you’re having a lovely evening chatting with friends and they say “shall we play a game?” No, we’re grown adults!!

ZittiEBuoni · 06/03/2024 16:06

Every family gathering ever, SIL gets everyone to play poker. I HATE IT.

transformandriseup · 06/03/2024 16:06

Party games for friends to play. I'm happy to play games with my own family at home but not when I am catching up with friends.

Also any work social which involves activities.

Ilovelurchers · 06/03/2024 16:06

Going for a posh formal meal. Feel like I am pretending to be a grown up.
