Which activities make your heart sink?

Each to their own but which activities that your friends and family love are just not for you?

I’m genuinely pleased that others love it but I’m really not a fan of going for a walk unless there’s some other purpose e.g Exploring a city. I find it boring and difficult and often painful(Due to disabilities)

Also anything involving clubs or alcohol. I don’t drink and I have sensory issues so they’re too loud for me.

There are others but I want to hear what activities you dread.

TIA

Escape room, or anything with the word "team" in it!

Yes!
Went once for a team (sorry @Tinybigtanya I know you hate that word!) building day at work. Hated it! I'm in a different team now and my manager has said we're going on an Away Day and has suggested.....you've guessed it.....an Escape Room. My heart sank when she said it.

Water parks. Screaming kids, I hate high slides and always end up being the one looking after the towels.

Fancy dress. So many friends seem to love this and enjoy planning and finding stuff to wear and posting pictures, I'm just a miserable git when it comes to that.

But a black tie do to dress up for, I rather like.

And I love walking especially in the hills.

@Maddy70 that's not something I have ever heard of. Who is running these groups? Who is inviting you?
(Just curious....)

paddlinglikecrazy · 07/03/2024 10:35

Camping
skiing
enforced dancing, come and dance, come on and then try to drag me.
I quite like dancing, but I’ll dance when I choose.
😂

I'm invited all the time groups of women "sharing "

@Maddy70
Sharing what?
These "sister circles" sound horrendous. I have no idea what they are but they make my heart sink already.
Please can you tell us more about this fresh hell we need to avoid!

vanillaclouds · 07/03/2024 11:18

Outdoor play dates when I'm freezing cold and want to go home for 2 hours but nobody else is cold. (I'm always cold) I need to go indoors.

Georgie743 · 07/03/2024 11:18

Baby showers. Jesus I could have died of boredom at almost all of them. The ridiculous games... the watching someone open yet another blanket. Urgh.

And the cinema. I really don't get it!? I own a TV. I subscribe to three streaming services. Why leave the house to watch TV? I can do that at home, with my bra off, with my own snacks.. I especially don't understand going to the cinema when you've got young kids. Why waste a night you have a babysitter etc on watching a film? That's something you can do any night at home. Surely better to do something you can't do at home or with the kids...

however each to their own - I bloody love an escape room!

Oh god yes, the come and dance! Cringe!

Judellie · 07/03/2024 11:22

Watching Big Brother. Just why? I couldn't care less what a bunch of divs I don't know (and never will) do or say.

Oh this is a good point, I can be on a dancefloor all night in a club but anything with formal moves or the dreaded wedding ceilidh will make me glue myself to my chair

pickytube · 07/03/2024 14:06

Gatherings like baby showers or sex reveal of baby. Bottomless brunch with the girlies, hen dos, concerts/festivals, day at the races, parties and anything that requires to dress up as a theme.

I live in quite a hippy area. So women sit on the beach sharing emotions ......
Juat my idea of hell

All lovely people but ....

My good friend and his wife can never just meet for a coffee or drink and a chat. It’s always got to be organised fun, such as a board game cafe or some such dull shite. I never see them as a couple now because of this. I just meet up with my mate and have a coffee and a chinwag.

Amen to that.
The damp, why is everything so damp for so many months of the year!
(I might have a sneaky AirPod in one ear listening to something funky to get me through each torturous moment)

RaraRachael · 08/03/2024 10:09

I saw a thing on the telly last night that looked like a "sister group". Loads of women "empowering" themselves by swimming in the sea, sharing their experiences then repeating some sort of silly mantra.
Could think of nothing worse.

This is an abomination. I’d rather be the little spoon with a giant squid than share my emotions with hippies on the beach.

Comedy Clubs - I rarely find stand up funny and it's embarrassing just sitting there while everyone else is howling!
Anything involving dancing - I hate to dance! I'm not good at it or terrible at it, just average, but I get no enjoyment from it.
Spa days - No, no, no. There is not one aspect of a spa day that appeals to me.
Cinema - I just don't like it. Would rather watch a movie at home.
Classic car shows - having been dragged to a few by an ex. Oh look an old car, oh there's another one. Is it time to go home yet?
"Spiritual" evenings - got dragged to one by my sister and this guy was pretending to talk to spirits and pass on messages, it was all a load of bollocks.
Walking/sitting in the park - I have a perfectly nice garden if I want to sit outside. I stopped hanging around in parks when I was 15!

Thinking about it, there's a lot of activities I don't like!

JosieHetty · 08/03/2024 15:33

Spa days. Seems weird, all that pressure to relax. I’d rather read - or walk round a city.
