Which activities make your heart sink?

Each to their own but which activities that your friends and family love are just not for you?

I’m genuinely pleased that others love it but I’m really not a fan of going for a walk unless there’s some other purpose e.g Exploring a city. I find it boring and difficult and often painful(Due to disabilities)

Also anything involving clubs or alcohol. I don’t drink and I have sensory issues so they’re too loud for me.

There are others but I want to hear what activities you dread.

TIA

Male strip shows of the Magic Mike variety (well, any variety really).

Amusement arcades and visiting tacky / depressed seaside towns like Yarmouth or Blackpool.

Group spa days (love them on my own).

A burlesque dance lesson or some such (pole dancing etc).

There will be others!

Walks. I need to have a goal where to walk like shops not a walk in a park.

Aurora2023 · 06/03/2024 16:08

A girls only spa weekend with shared bedrooms. Just kill me now

Karaoke

Singing while someone plays a guitar - DH has a relative who takes his guitar everywhere with him and sits and strums away expecting us all to sing along. I can’t bear it. I cringe myself to death. My arse cheeks clench so tightly, I’m scared they’ll never unclench.

80s nights - I hate them.

Outdoor activities in the rain - yes, I know there’s no such thing as bad weather only unsuitable clothes, but fuck that.

Tortoise2go · 06/03/2024 16:11

Large "woman ony events especially hens nights and baby showers. Worse if there's games involved. Also work events

PurpleWhirple · 06/03/2024 16:12

Board games
Weddings

@alloalloallo

This sounds like the worst torture imaginable. I couldn't sit there and witness that.

TeeBee · 06/03/2024 16:14

Any sort of quiz night.
Tribute bands/artists.
Drag acts...just no.

10 pin bowling. I find it so boring.

Came here to say this x

Redlarge · 06/03/2024 16:15

Indoor play centres

BlastedPimples · 06/03/2024 16:15

Shopping for clothes.

mynumerouno · 06/03/2024 16:15

Fancy dress
Or bowling - it's so loud!

platinumplus · 06/03/2024 16:15

Barbecues. Don't know why but I just hate them. Either hosting or attending.

Newsenmum · 06/03/2024 16:16

Anything combining work and socialising. ‘Going for drinks’ with work makes me shudder.

mynumerouno · 06/03/2024 16:16

Or ice skating - don't want to break an arm thanks.

Watching a musical. Just utterly sphincter clenching awfulness.

This too
And kids school plays , even of own DC are in it.

PurpleWhirple · 06/03/2024 16:17

God yes, anything that takes place in a primary school.

BarrelOfOtters · 06/03/2024 16:19

I thought I'd hate crazy golf but ended up at one of those ones with music and grafitti and stuff and it was actually really good fun. Totally the kind of thing I thought I'd hate but I didn't.

A day clothes shopping on my own once in a while, bliss. Shopping with anyone else - oh God, no. You end up having to go 'oh lovely' at everything they look at, being dragged round shops where nothing fits or suits you....

Musicals - depends very much on the musical.....

GuacamoleinmyDMs · 06/03/2024 16:20

Hiking
Water parks
Theme parks
Fancy dress
Bottomless brunch (I love brunch I love eating out and I love drinking but I hate having to cram it all in to two hours )

JengaCupboard · 06/03/2024 16:22

Any sort of enforced 'fun'.. entry level would be board games, or worse, card games, just no.

Anything like Crazy Golf, hen-do activities like cocktail making classes/candle/overpriced useless cosmetic parties etc, or the thought of those 'escape room' type things.. awful (for me)

I can just about tolerate a pub quiz if I'm there by accident.

I don't mind the cinema if it's one of those lazy-boy chair places and it's something I really want to see..

God I sound miserable (I'm not!!) :)

Ilovegoldies · 06/03/2024 16:24

School assemblies and concerts. I know they are just children but it's like nails down a blackboard listening to them sing out of tune. I am so glad I'm done with them all.

ALongHardWinter · 06/03/2024 16:25

Anything with the words 'Team Building' or 'It will be fun!'.

modgepodge · 06/03/2024 16:25

Redlarge · 06/03/2024 16:15

Indoor play centres

Does any adult like these though?

Agree on going for a walk, 100x more if my child is there. My dislike has obviously transferred to her and she adds to my misery by whinging 😂

Also bowling.

love an escape room and a board game though 😳

Echobelly · 06/03/2024 16:25

Quizzes, sports (competing or watching), anything involving gambling. Luckily I don't have mates or family who enjoy the latter two!

Cookie77777 · 06/03/2024 16:26

Leaving the house :-)
