I love the wooden doors, tables and bed frames but yes the overall effect is drab and dreary and brown and grey. Whatever effect has been used on the walls just makes them look grubby.

I don’t really understand the clothes and bags hanging up in the cloakroom(?) area. Looks like they only wear brown and a bit of blue. Reminds me of a particular religious group or era but I can’t place it.

Like an amish house.

PrimalLass · 03/03/2024 10:24

It's lovely

Theinjuredcleaner · 03/03/2024 10:25

A sad beige home, for sad, beige children.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/03/2024 10:25

White Company catalogue with added damp issue?

Damanse · 03/03/2024 10:25

What a depressing, sad, colourless, dreary place to live.

MermaidEyes · 03/03/2024 10:25

Like an amish house.

I've visited Amish country and it absolutely is.

I don't mind the colour scheme, I quite like neutrals, but hate the texture of the walls, looks like drying plaster, and the wood under the stairs is a weird look too.

Same re walls had to zoom in as thought my eyes were funny!

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 10:26

The cloakroom cannot be real surely? No one actually dresses like that?

I have no problem with it. I am just judging a very pretentious house.

I am now considering creating an arty display of Mr Monkey's pile of trainers that are currently cluttering up our hall.

Looks very much like a certain Cotswold hotel- all Amish linen pinafores and handwoven baskets.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 03/03/2024 10:26

There's a disconnect between the photos somehow. The one looking in from the garden seems to show different furniture. It's like they've taken photos and run them through a filter so the TV becomes a reading nook etc ..

If you're paying £4500 a month, you'd want a bedroom that didn't look like it had just been vacated by a peasant.

It really does look like a house from before too many different-coloured dyes were developed, doesn’t it? Like stepping back in time.

WilloTheWispy · 03/03/2024 10:27

What if you were a Goth? Would you be allowed to rent it, or would you be rejected because you wouldn’t fit in with the brown linen colour scheme?!

NewYearOldProblems · 03/03/2024 10:27

Why do you think it is tasteful?

MistyGreenAndBlue · 03/03/2024 10:28

DarkDarkNight · 03/03/2024 10:22

Wow they really went all out on the limewash paint didn’t they? I actually like the look and have a lot of similar images saved on IG. I think it’s a bit much over the whole house though.

The child’s book ledge is a bit sad, are they only allowed books that fit the aesthetic? No Hungry Caterpillar or Jolly Postman unless they publish a nice muted beige version.

As it's up for rent, I imagine no one currently lives there at all. It's just staged for marketing.

JJathome · 03/03/2024 10:28

That’s gorgeous and one of the nicest rentals I’ve seen.

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 10:28

I wasn't being entirely serious.

TempleOfBloom · 03/03/2024 10:28

The photos have some weird sepia filter that deadens it all.

It might be quite lovely in RL.

Most people seem to advise a much more boring cliched ‘hotel chic’ neutral look for homes being sold

BeretRaspberry · 03/03/2024 10:28

I love the overall scheme..I love neutrals as I find them calming. But I’m not keen on the damp looking walls.

Oh yes, good.shout! Poss AI generated?

HelloDarlingWhatAreYouDoingHere · 03/03/2024 10:30

It looks like something out of a magazine and not at all suited to real life. Pretty though.

LadyEloise1 · 03/03/2024 10:30

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 10:18

I like the way they have painted the walls to look like they have damp.

😂I totally agree. The walls are awful.

menopausalmare · 03/03/2024 10:30

How strange. Maybe Gandalf lives there.

Waitingfordoggo · 03/03/2024 10:30

Ah yes, @MyLadyTheKingsMother - Amish, thank you!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 03/03/2024 10:31

A lot of posters seem to be missing that this is an empty house up for rent. Highly staged with fake books and clothes etc. No telly.
No one actually lives like that.

Imicola · 03/03/2024 10:31

terriblyangryattimes · 03/03/2024 10:19

It looks the the sort of house an Instagram 'homesteader' type mum would live in to me. All the kids would be dressed in shades of neutral pinafores with knee high socks and brown cardigans, with unbrushed hair, often spotted holding posies of flowers picked from the garden.

Yes, this. They all wear really expensive handmade scratchy dresses and leather shoes so they look like peasants.
