Rain, mud, more rain and mud

I'm Moaning.

But is anyone else sick. To. Fucking. Death. Of the Fucking. Endless. Rain?

I'm peri menopausal, but fuck me, this weather is really getting me down. (And I know it's the weather because the very few dry days we've had, my mood is instantly lifted)

Please don't say I need to get out and go for a walk, get some fresh air (I've a dog and horse, so no matter the weather I'm out in it every day)

Is there anything I can do to cheer myself up? It's affecting my work as I'm just a grumpy bitch.

(it's been soooo bad on occasion I've even considered having my darling horse pts because I can't deal with it anymore)

Help. Please...

Omg me too. I'm quite a hardy sort but this is getting to me! Has it ever actually been this endlessly wet before???

Ilovemyshed · 01/03/2024 18:43

Celebrate the flip side, coming home, hot shower, cosy clothes, hot chocolate and veg out. It will soon be Spring.

MonsteraMama · 01/03/2024 18:45

I generally love rain, I'm Welsh so I kind of have to. Walking in the rain is something I genuinely enjoy.

But even I'm fed up to the back teeth of it now. Feels like it never ends. Rain and wind and cold and dark. I resent it because we had a few really nice sunny days recently and the snowdrops and daffs were coming up and it finally felt like spring. Now it's 2° and sleeting and I have to take my dogs out and I've just had enough of it.

I hear you, I haven't seem my front garden in weeks as it's under 6in of water.

OldSpeclkledHen · 01/03/2024 18:48

I adopted the hound end of July last year.... it feels like it's rained every day since then 😩

It's so changeable too - today we've had rain, hail, snow, wind & sun!

Yes! Although I think it's my fault as I very carefully, expensively and painstakingly, turned my front garden from a 'pot' garden into a gravel and sempervivum drought-proof garden.

Sorry about that.

Evenstar · 01/03/2024 18:51

I got chickens last summer, I think ducks would have been a better choice 😭

GreenRaven · 01/03/2024 18:52

I suppose you could say it is better than drought?

Meadowfinch · 01/03/2024 18:54

I am sick of it. The school run is flooded in 6 places. The depth gauge at our local ford has disappeared - washed away? - and I've resorted to wearing wellies. My car is filthy. 😟

TonTonMacoute · 01/03/2024 18:54

I’m in Cornwall and god knows we’re used to rain, but I’ve never known it to be this bad. 3 times more rain than normal, wettest February on record.

I can't do anything at all in the garden, it’s not flooded but it’s so wet it would damage the soil.

I feel even more sorry for people with livestock, I have friends who say it’s even too muddy for their ducks.

Actually it’s my fault.

A year ago I had an IBC put in my garden to catch rainwater for the garden. I could have put in 100 and they would probably all be full.

Bichonmum · 01/03/2024 18:57

I've got horses and I'm so sick of the mud too.

Roll on spring when they can live out. Hopefully it won't be too long now 🤞🏻

Supersimkin2 · 01/03/2024 18:59

London here. Drip, drip, drip.

All the concrete here means the world is 99 per cent grey.

For the past 5 months.

Oof. 💐 OP and everyone else.

pictoosh · 01/03/2024 19:00

I feel like this too. I think it feels particularly bad this winter because the last summer (23) was such a grey, wet washout. It has been like this for a protracted period.
I am desperate for a bit of light.

LighthouseTheme · 01/03/2024 19:03

Ooh, I would never think of destroying a horse because of the mud/weather....
(nearly 20 years of a grey Thoroughbred, so I sympathise).
I just get fed up of it raining continually after I've been to the car wash.

I live on a hill though, but do sympathise with people in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Tiddlywinks63 · 01/03/2024 19:05

I live on the top of a hill, with very free-draining, stony soil yet the lawn squelches if you walk on it and my borders have puddles. I don’t think I’ve ever known it so wet.
Even the dog’s getting fed up and she never used to mind bad weather.
The sleety rain this afternoon was so icy yet five minutes earlier it was bright sunshine!
The only consolation is that thank goodness it wasn’t snow instead of rain, we’d be buried feet deep 🫣

AhBiscuits · 01/03/2024 19:05

I'm desperate to get to work at the allotment but it's just too bloody wet.

newtlover · 01/03/2024 19:07

me too
absolutely had enough of this

AuntieMarys · 01/03/2024 19:08

We love walking but have curtailed our usual 8 mile hikes as the fields are awful. Bloody miserable and dangerous schlepping through thick mud.

OfDragonsDeep · 01/03/2024 19:11

Me too, am out in it everyday as I like my fresh air, but desperate for some sun on my face.

I hate cosy evenings, I like light at 5am until 10pm

Pushing 70 here and I remember winters being like this growing up - relentless rain. Wind. Wet clothes draped over the kitchen radiator. School shoes leaking.

if we have a drought announcement this year I am going to be Annoyed.

Overtheatlantic · 01/03/2024 19:15

In Oxford and it’s been relentless for the entire winter. Our small lawn is just mud. I can’t even imagine what’s happening to the hedgehogs.

Mollyplop999 · 01/03/2024 19:17

OldSpeclkledHen I feel.your pain. I've 3 ponies and I've never known a winter like it. Wish I could offer some positive support, hopefully spring will come soon xx

BotterMon · 01/03/2024 19:19

I hear you. I have 3 horses and they used to be grey. They are all now brown and yellow. Fields are trashed. Dog stinks. My wellies are leaking and new wellies are too nice to trash and were bought in the sale for next winter 😁

Apparently February was the warmest but the wettest ever. It's totally shit OP.
