THIS IS A LIGHTHEARTED THREAD - MNHQ

I’m sure most of us will often think of extremely sad/distressing stories that we’ve come across in the news. This thread is about news stories that have stuck in your mind for the opposite reason. What news story do you often think of and why?

I often think about the news article where the police officer was sacked because he scanned a £9.95 pack of Krispy Kreme doughnuts as 7p carrots😂😂😂😂 I laugh because how have you risked your whole career for a £10 pack of doughnuts? Absolute madness. Here’s the story below if anyone hasn’t read it before. What’s yours?

What a doughnut: Cop who scanned Krispy Kremes as 7p carrots sacked

The panel concluded that Pc Read breached professional standards of honesty and integrity and that this amounted to gross misconduct.

Gaza taking a fishing rod, kfc and 4 cans of beer to Raoul Moat

This.

4 cans?

Presumably wasn't planning on spending more than 15 minutes with him.

Those poor people stabbed in Nottingham. I can't stop thinking about them. My son is a student there and lives in the next street.
That CCTV of them walking home makes me cry.

Yes agree. My daughter had lived in the same road and had wandered home probably a bit pissed many times.
Can always remember her calling me saying how annoyed she was by a taxi driver because he actually walked her to her front door to ensure she was safe..thank you taxi driver.

Poor Amber Gibson. Bought up in care, raped, killed by her brother and then her dead body was abused by a stranger who would rather wank on her than report her bloodied body to the police.

Raoul Moat. That was just such a dramatic but ultimately tragic few days of news.

rendered farcical by the appearance of Paul Gascoigne on the scene to offer his services as a negotiator, whilst carrying (in no particular order) a can of lager (!) a fishing rod (!!!) and a roast chicken (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

The newspaper headline I always remember was a sports story - "Super Calais go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious"

I think of this all the time too

Those blue ankle boots he's wearing 😂😂

The boots! I want an explanation for those. I don’t care about his dogging and meow meow.

Princess Margaret marrying in 1960 ( saw their honeymoon tour on Pathe New at cinema). Bay of Pigs 1961 - came home and radio switched on just as news coming through that the Americans were withdrawing. My parents were very, very thankful and I now realise they (and most people) had thought world war 3 had been just about inevitable until that moment).
