Tell me about a story in the news that you often think about

THIS IS A LIGHTHEARTED THREAD - MNHQ

I’m sure most of us will often think of extremely sad/distressing stories that we’ve come across in the news. This thread is about news stories that have stuck in your mind for the opposite reason. What news story do you often think of and why?

I often think about the news article where the police officer was sacked because he scanned a £9.95 pack of Krispy Kreme doughnuts as 7p carrots😂😂😂😂 I laugh because how have you risked your whole career for a £10 pack of doughnuts? Absolute madness. Here’s the story below if anyone hasn’t read it before. What’s yours?

What a doughnut: Cop who scanned Krispy Kremes as 7p carrots sacked

The panel concluded that Pc Read breached professional standards of honesty and integrity and that this amounted to gross misconduct.

Not the news but I often think about a bloke who went on embarrassing bodies because he was worried his bum was leaking poo, only to be told he just wasn't wiping his arse properly. I think about him at least once a week and how mortified he must have been😂😂😂

I was only thinking about this last week, I think he was a publican too. How can you go on such a public show and not feel so embarrassed by it.
Also thought of Frank Boughs sex scandal and Huw Edwards this week too. I think i must be psychic 😂

Wtf is wrong with everyone?? This was supposed to be a fun thread not a bloody trauma dump

I don’t think people can help themselves tbh!

Yeah people just ignored the OP hey?

I always laugh at the “I’m not a cat”; plus the toddlers busting in on their dad doing the interview.

Omg😭 that’s absolutely awful. I would have asked for them to not air the episode!

Another one that I often think of is the girl who held in her farts around her boyfriend for 2 years and ended up having her appendix removed because of it! https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/teenager-says-ended-up-hospital-26614802.amp

Teenager says holding in her farts near her boyfriend ended with her in hospital

Cara Clarke, 19, from Ireland, said she will "let it out from now on" after holding in her wind for too long around her boyfriend and ending up in hospital

“Local goat causes commuter chaos”

Front page news from our local rag about 15 years ago. The gripping tale was accompanied with a picture of one of the victims looking fed up next to his car and a picture of a goat. But not the goat. They were keen to point out that it was a stock image.

I think about that at least once a week, and have a little chuckle.

This thread is lurching wildly between the hilarious and the tragic. It's giving me whiplash.

Wictc · 12/02/2024 21:05

I also think about Brian Harvey and potatoes far too often.

MissRheingold · 12/02/2024 21:09

The Essex Lion was hilarious.

James Bulger and how devastating the whole thing was
31 years ago today he was murdered.

Posters clearly are not reading the OP properly.

I like this news story:

"Man faces trial for feeding police horses sausage rolls"

Then posters are straight into posting sad and distressing stories....

CeeChynaa · 12/02/2024 21:34

I can’t even respond to everyone because there’s so many funny stories on here😂

It's nowhere near as funny as some of the other stories shared, but I still think about this surprisingly often! Someone's out of office reply ended up on a road sign in Wales...

I don’t think people can help themselves tbh!

It's because they can't be bothered to read your actual op, so they just read the thread title and crack on.

VoleChomper · 12/02/2024 22:04

I think about Ronnie fucking Pickering at least once a month.
