THIS IS A LIGHTHEARTED THREAD - MNHQ

I’m sure most of us will often think of extremely sad/distressing stories that we’ve come across in the news. This thread is about news stories that have stuck in your mind for the opposite reason. What news story do you often think of and why?

I often think about the news article where the police officer was sacked because he scanned a £9.95 pack of Krispy Kreme doughnuts as 7p carrots😂😂😂😂 I laugh because how have you risked your whole career for a £10 pack of doughnuts? Absolute madness. Here’s the story below if anyone hasn’t read it before. What’s yours?

What a doughnut: Cop who scanned Krispy Kremes as 7p carrots sacked

The panel concluded that Pc Read breached professional standards of honesty and integrity and that this amounted to gross misconduct.

various news stories and weather they are cover stories for what actually happened eg if they were used ? and for context: d notices and then cover stories arranged instead in various points of modern history for the era.

Not the news but I often think about a bloke who went on embarrassing bodies because he was worried his bum was leaking poo, only to be told he just wasn't wiping his arse properly. I think about him at least once a week and how mortified he must have been😂😂😂

I remember this and often think about it too!! 😆

The disappearance of Amy Bradley. I think of her often.

On the lighter side, when Judy Finnegan's top fell open during an awards show and John Leslie rushed on stage to tell her and help her cover up.

Yes! I think about Amy Lynn Bradley every single day and check obsessively for any developments.

Jessie J coming out as bisexual and the classy sun's front page was 'Jessie Gay' - hate the sun but it did make me chuckle.

I love Jessie J btw Smile

That supposed picture of her about ten years later is haunting isn't it?

I remember this and just thought he was an odd pervert who wanted the tv dr to stick a finger up his bum.

Lee Balkwell who died in a cement mixer accident. It was stated it was an accident but his dad believes to this day it was murder. His dad has fought so hard to get the case looked at again and again. It's taken its toll on the dad's health.
I remember it as it happened around the corner from where I was living at the time. I've never forgotten the name. It was on the news and all the local newspapers

So unnerving and sad. I wonder what became of her in the end and if she's still alive even.

I have a scrapbook furnished with this particular paper. Much to choose from, but this does stand out:

The canoe man who faked his death and was living next door for years is an absolutely cracking story even now.

His own children didn’t know.
Imagine grieving with your mum about your lovely dad dying and then five and half years later she says ‘Ta da . . . So here’s your dad’
